Some more good press for Hofstra. They also rank the CAA as the 19th best conference.

The second sentence is not a compliment considering the CAA is 16th in the Conference RPI.

Not worthy of its own thread, but worth mentioning. Dallas Anglin is leaving the Southern Miss. basketball program. I wonder if he got in trouble again.

NJIT is two spots ahead of Fordham. Seems right.

I like the idea of this - even better would be for all of these schools (and a few others) to finally put together a tournament - I miss the old ECAC Holiday Festival, would love to see a metro or tri-state tourney akin to that to take it's place...
that would solve a lot of these poll/ranking questions! And I think it would be GREAT for local hoops

There are enough schools in the area to fill a 16 team tournament and maybe larger:
St. John's
Fordham
Columbia
Manhattan
Marist
Iona
Fairfield
Monmouth
St. Peter's
NJIT
Wagner
Fairleigh Dickinson
Rutgers
Seton Hall
Hofstra
Stony Brook
LIU- Brooklyn
St. Francis (NY)
That's 18. Rider, Princeton, and Yale are options if you want to go farther away. I also didn't check to guarantee I didn't miss a team in the area. If 16 teams would commit to playing every year, the teams could be made into 4 groups of 4 with one host per group playing and the teams playing on consecutive days. Then the Holiday Festival inviting certain teams could be replaced by the Final Four of this tournament.

Unfortunately it will never happen. Too much provincial thinking and petty issues among all the schools. Why do you think we are not playing Iona or Manhattan this year? We're too good and they know it. Also St Johns has nothing to gain by playing in an event like that...and too much to lose. Fordham will not play us as long as Tommy is there, etc. I could go on and on!

There is a holiday festival. And it's made for St. John's to win it. And they still don't most of the time.

that's cool, never heard of that site, thx PoP
by the way, things like extra press and media attention is one of the not so little very important benefits of having a schedule that affords some wins - this program is in yr 2 of a major overhaul, so that to me is way more important than SOS in order to get HU back on the map and aid in recruiting (<- which is THE key to HU's future success in rebuilding and elevating to the next level)
next yr is a different story.

I still don't expect too much of a difference in next year's schedule- aren't many of these games agreed to at least two years in advance? Especially the big name programs who have to lock down arena dates and all that.
