FLORIDA STATE GAME

Post by garyg »

Florida State may be the tallest team Hofstra has ever played. They have a 7-4 guy, 7-3 guy, 7-1 guy, 6-9 guy, and two 6-8 guys on their current roster

Lol really is...

Hey it's theirs against ours - go out there and play the game, lets see what the HU boys are gonna be about this yr - I say use the athleticism and attack all day - play loose, light em up with the inside/out game - they have no clue who HU is or what this team can do, so take full advantage of pulling the surprise against a team that will be thinking they got the easy W like most first games for P5 teams

Well, hopeful Ibrahim Djambo will show us early on what the Clemson coaches saw it him. It would be interesting to see what kind of playing time he gets in that game, since he's 6-10, and has been known to play on the outside and shoot 3s. Could potentially be a matchup problem if FSU plays man defense, and then a 7 footer has to run around on the perimeter. Koon's experience will help a lot as well.
Hopefully JAM talks to Bill Coen, since Northeastern beat FSU last year.

@JonRothstein 3m

Several ACC coaches believe Florida State has the league's best overall roster. Noles bring back 6 of top 7. Add Bacon, Beasley, & others.

I watched a few games of their top recruit , Dwayne Bacon, who played at Oak Hill. Kid is a 6'7'' scoring machine and will be one of a few of our match-up issues with this squad. LOVE that we have this game on the schedule, but it will definitely be a challenging one. The beauty of our team is we are made to be a giant killer this year with our size inside and elite 3 pt potential.

Here's some highlights of Bacon from Oakhill--

It's gonna be a battle for HU no doubt, FSU has had some very strong recruiting classes, def not the bottom dweller of old...

But it's the beginning of the yr and anything can happen - they're not unbeatable or elite IMO, they're a solid ACC team that will be tough to beat, BUT they ARE beatable for an experienced talented HU squad

What did he average? I believe about 2 pts a game. Another defensive/rebound specialist? These one year signings do not impress me.

Bob - so Zeke Upshaw and Dion Nesmith didn't do anything for you?

Zeke was a one and done, as was Dion who then opted to play a second year as a graduate student.

Either way it is a sign of weakness of team roster and recruiting in general. Not comparing us to the top schools but they rarely accept transfer students. Exceptions occur if an exceptional player lands on their doorstep.

Three years ago this program wasn't even on the map. You've got to find players wherever you can. These stop gap players helped return our team to relevance. We've added what appear to be great recruits - true freshman. This staff knows what they're doing.

I am just not drinking the cool aid. I have been around too long to accept rhetoric. The proof is in the pudding.

Now don't get me wrong I will be routing for this team but am accepting reality.
