It's so true without pitching performances like this from Venturini we will be hard pressed to win games. Maybe of some note is that Anna Butler freshman from Seaford finally got an AB as a DH. She was highly touted coming out of Long Island and is also a PITCHER.

We get some hitting for a change and win our first conference game 9-1. Sam Ward hits 2 HR's and drives in 5 rbi's. Apsel pitches 4 innings giving up one run strikes out 2, 4 walks. Mullin pitches 1 inning and gives up no runs. Good win for us and we make no errors.

We are getting hits off their ace Weber but we have left a village on base

We win the 2nd game as well. Pisapia starts gives up 4 runs but only 2 earned. Venturini comes in and pitches 5 innings striking out 7 and gets the win with relief(1 batter) from Mullin. Looks like Venturini gave up two long balls and 3 earned runs but 7 k's in 5 speaks to her game. We sweep the double header winning 9-8 now lets bring out the brooms tomorrow. Three rbi's for the 1st baseman Iappolo who goes deep in this game.

We lose the third game 8-2. Mullin not exactly a Stella performance don’t know why they didn’t go with the freshman Venturini who clearly is a better pitcher. Venturini pitched an inning in relief giving up a run with 2 hits and hits two batters.

Adrienne Clarke is the perfect coach for this team. She still holds Hofstra record for consecutive scoreless innings in the NCAAs. She didnt throw 70 MPH like other top NCXAA pitchers but was the best at using all the tools in her arsenal. She beat 2 All Americans in the NCAA appearances. She has already turned around the young pitching staff in about a half season. They will only get better. Sandberg her #1 assistant is great with catchers and will do the fielding duties. The other asst will handle the hitters.
Hitting which was our weakness turned it around against Elon by being more aggressive. They knew pitchers were throwing 1st pitch strikes, so they went after the first pitch.
We had 1 HR in 21 games. against Elon 3 Hrs in 3 games
Give it time and she will get this program up on top again

Were you watching the games Stu? Where did the first pitch strike info. come from? That's so true in all of baseball pitches trying to get ahead of hitters to get in the drivers seat.

Also didn't know that she had a 1.77 ERA when she played here and was a two way player. All solid stuff for a coach with young players.

So we split with Army yesterday as Haley Venturini continues to impress winning the first game pitching 6 strong innings. She gives up 1 run on 3 hits and strikes out 7. The 4 walks were the only negative on her performance. We get 13 hits a real positive sign that the bats are coming around. Marisa Ogden pitches the 7th and gives up 3 runs on 3 hits 2 of the runs earned.I believe this was the first time she was on the hill for us. A Sewanaka product who didn't see action in her freshman year.
In the second game with Apsel on the mound we lose 6-1 Apsel gives up 9 hits and 5 runs 1 unearned and strikes out 3. Mullin pitches the last inning and gives up another run. We only scored 1 run in this game despite getting 9 hits.

In the first game of a doubleheader against the COC we win 9-7. Venturini started the game and couldn't get out of the first inning after walking 4 batters and throwing 2 wild pitches without getting an out. Mullin relieved her and pitched 6.1 giving up 6 runs only 4 earned, 9 hits and striking out 5. Apsel had to pitch the last 2/3 of the inning to get the save.

We're losing 1-0 in the second game going into the bottom of the third.

We also win the second game on a walk off hit by Olivia Malinowski freshman. Apsel pitches a complete game gives up 3 earned runs on 7 hits with 6 strikeouts. Nice win and double header sweep.

Lovin it indeed! Go Lady Pride, let’s get this program cranking!

Right now this sport is feeling good for me all around, Lady Hokies have built a top 10 program, sitting at #5 and just took down #3 FSU.

Would love to see HU get some games with them in the OOC - VT is becoming a powerhouse, and in the CAA recruiting footprint - win win

Julia Apsel a freshman technically after sitting out her freshman year with an injury gets the win in both games. This kid has been the best pitcher here for sure now. Pitches 5 1/3 in relief of Mullin gives up 3 hits and no runs. In the second game she comes in the game in the 4th inning after Venturini who had come in for Pisapia melts down AGAIN. Venturini showing so much promise but only gets one out in the 4th walks two hits a batter and gives up a solo home run, ugh what has happened with her freshman issues I guess. But Apsel comes in pitches 4 2/3 in the 2nd game her line no runs, no hits and 6 K's. Very impressive so JMU who was picked first in the CAA gets swept by us which is the first time since 2013 that we sweep them in a doubleheader now can we get the complete sweep today! Also two home runs for Giordano who's starting to hit the ball now.
