It certainly won’t hurt but the hope is to bring in the right players to compete at the level we used to.

Drexel had more shots on goal, 6 to 4. 3 seed Elon just beat 2 seed Northeastern 1-0. Northeastern dominated shots 18 to 5 and shots on goal 6 to 2. The only goal was a penalty kick. We won't face Northeastern in the Final for both genders. Hopefully we do better than when the Women were favored against them in the Spring and lost.

Big weekend for soccer at Hofstra. The men go for the CAA Auto bid and the women open NCAA competition against Providence at Hofstra.

Good stuff! Go Pride!

Congrats to mens soccer and coach Richard Nutthall on their 3-2 victory over Elon. Mens soccer now joins womens soccer as CAA champions and an auto bid the the NCAA tournament. Matt Vochwinkle with a brace to lead the offense.

Vemund Hole Vik scored from a corner kick 5:44 in for his first goal, and Elon led 1-0 at halftime. Matthew Vowinkel scored at 52:30, and Stefan Mason scored the winning goal from far away at 56:08. Matthew Vowinkel scored at 71:06 to go up 3-1, and Jack Edwards scored at 78:32. We had more shots (17 to 11) and more shots on goal (8 to 7), which is more shots than we want to allow. We have 13 wins and 2 ties in our last 15 games, and 15 wins and 3 ties in our last 18 home games. We won 16 games for the first time. The Selection Show is online tomorrow at 1:00 P.M.

https://gohofstra.com/news/2021/11/14/m ... ament.aspx is titled "MSOC: Hofstra Defeats Elon To Win CAA Championship; Pride Headed To NCAA Tournament." It says "Vowinkel was named the CAA Championship Most Outstanding Player" and "The Pride becomes the first CAA member to win both the CAA Men's and Women's Soccer Championships in the same season since UNCW in 2009."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM1O1YlcNSs has highlights we made that only show our goals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXrmqbNDtdM are longer highlights by the CAA.

This concludes a great weekend for teams I like.

Will be interesting to see if team gets one of the 16 first round byes when brackets announced at 1 today. My gut says no given NCAA's history with Hofstra but is certainly possible given our high RPI of 9 entering match.

So we are ranked 13th the top 16 get byes NCAA ignores that and our #9 or 10 RPI Even if the team went 19-0 I still think we dont get a bye

It was disappointing not to get a seed, but it's better than when in 2015 Softball deserved a seed based on RPI and not only did not get a seed, but had to go to 2 seed Florida. Missouri State went 17-1-0, didn't get a seed, and if they win they have to go to 6 seed Tulsa.

We trailed 1-0 for 2:01, trailed 2-1 at halftime, and scored 3 goals in 3:50 to go up 4-2, which was the final score. Pierce Infuso, Hendrik Hebbeker, Ryan Carmichael, and Matthew Vowinkel scored. The statistics with our value first were shots 12-11, shots on goal 8-2, corner kicks 3-7, saves 4-0, and fouls 15-19.

Lipscomb is 38th in the RPI, and Penn State is 21st.

Nice come from behind win. This team is capable of scoring in bunches. Weird stat is the Wessel Speel had no saves as Lipscomb had only 2 shots on goal. Still Lipscomb is a very good team.

Congratulations to Coach Nuttall and the Team!

On to Penn State, which in my opinion is a winnable game.
