What makes this team different Solid road and second half team They are resilient
Re: CAA QUARTERFINALS vs Drexel
As Coach Spiker said, Drexel mainly just missed in the first half, when they went 1/10 from 3 (he was happy with 9 of the 10 looks). Second half though, he credited to Hofstra's defense, which was swarming and intense after halftime.Cards wrote:Eli had the right attitude today - we need that from everybody for the next two days.
Much better second half than first - that being said, lets not get too excited about the play because Drexel was absolutely awful - 22 first half and 19 second half pts. Really bad. Either UD or CoC will not be so accommodating.
One down, two to go!

So we get Delaware next who trounced CoC. Rematch of last year’s semis that went to OT. UD will probably have the crowd advantage because of this horrible tournament format. Anyway should be a good game.

With William and Mary losing they are really in the driver's seat. Delaware will be tough - but to me they're the best team left besides Hofstra.

Well, they're the highest seed left besides Hofstra if this Northeastern score holds up.cactus wrote:With William and Mary losing they are really in the driver's seat. Delaware will be tough - but to me they're the best team left besides Hofstra.
Still gonna stick with Hofstra over Northeastern in the finals though.

Business trip. Battle 1 in the books, #2 in the war tomorrow night, no distractions, keep eyes on the prize.
Opponents need to be relatively meaningless right now, this is about HU finishing unfinished business regardless of the uniform on the other side.
Tomorrow night will be glued!!!

I was counting both northeastern and Towson.Wags wrote:Well, they're the highest seed left besides Hofstra if this Northeastern score holds up.cactus wrote:With William and Mary losing they are really in the driver's seat. Reseeding would have been nice.

Played great in the 2nd half yesterday, thought we’d win the tournament with pure offense, but we had an awesome defensive display to get the job done. Made it a nightmare for Drexels guards, held Wynter to a donut, only the second time this year he was held to single digits in conference play.
Great game from Pemberton, he took over at the beginning of the second half, and promptly closed the door on that game.

Shouldn't teams be able to scout their opponents? Would you have wanted us to finish before 2:00 P.M. and not find out our opponent for about or more than 6 more hours depending on the length of W&M vs. Elon? Take the situation where 1, 4, and 2 win. With reseeding, 3 beat 6 would make 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3, while 6 beating 3 would make 1 vs. 6 and 2 vs. 4. No team would find out their opponent until after the last game of the day. Reseeding is easy in the NFL playoffs where teams play once a week, and maybe for "tournaments" that are really games hosted by the better seed with days in between where teams don't go to one place, but it isn't possible with the CAA's format. Another problem with reseeding is hours of rest. The winners of the day Quarterfinals play their Semifinal before the winners of the night Quarterfinals. With reseeding, Elon who started 8.5 hours after us would have played us today.cactus wrote: Reseeding would have been nice.
Edit: https://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/202 ... aware.html says it was our fewest points allowed in a conference tournament and our largest margin of victory in a CAA Tournament in 18 years. Our only larger CAA Tournament margin of victory was when we were the 10 and beat 7 seed Towson 72-52 in our first CAA Tournament game on March 1, 2002. We're 16-18 in CAA Tournament games, and it was our largest margin of victory in 33 CAA Tournament games.

Reseeding the tournament is better than 3 games in 3 days.EvanJ wrote:Shouldn't teams be able to scout their opponents? Just would much rather play Elon than Delaware tonight.
