Towson announcers: "He's (meaning Tanksley) got 8 points to lead the TRIBE".
My ears are grinding from the pronunciation of Kone (Koneyay).
And one announcer keeps laughing about how we're just chucking up threes.

LOL. Yeah, it looks like Nesmith is wearing #20 tonight as well. Jeez, hopefully this is pro bono work.

Also starting to get annoyed by Towson showing highlights when we have offensive possessions.

On a bright note, Andre Walker is getting some playing time.

Towson went up 8-0 and then Hofstra cut the deficit to 2. Towson went up 14 at 29-15. Hofstra improved and trails 40-37 at halftime. The teams have made 5 three-pointers each. Hofstra had 14 attempts and Towson has 8. Tanksley leads all scorers with 11, Nesmith has 8, and Green has 6. Nesmith and Green have 2 assists each and Green and Robinson surprisingly are tied for the team lead with 4 rebounds. Tanksley doesn't have a rebound. The teams have 4 blocked shots each. John Davis has 2 for Towson and Bernardi has 3 for Hofstra. Before today, Bernardi had 2 blocked shots in 58 career games. Eddie Keith II has 10 points and no missed shots for Towson. He scored all his points in the first 4:09. Four McGlynn has 9 points and 3 assists. The teams have missed 1 free throw each, and Towson's miss was by McGlynn who entered shooting them .930.

Edit: Hofstra has made 9 out of 18 three-pointers thanks to having made their first 4 attempts of the second half. Hofstra went up 59-53 and it's now 59-56 with 11:03 left. Towson has 7 fouls already.

HU gets the "W". It was not a real pretty game, lots of fouls (and thank goodness we made our foul shots - we shot very well).Seems like once we took teh lead early in teh second half we did not have the mojo to pull away. Don't know what it was, but i thought we would really take control in the second half - what do I know!!!

Game was won on the free throw line. We were 37-42 as we hit our free throws to stave off a Towson rally. Another stat of interest is that Towson despite having 14 field goals in the second half had zero assists. A win is a win and I will take it. very sloppy game and we will not make noise in Baltimore if we continue to play like that. We were lucky to be down by only 3 at the half.

Hofstra won 87-82. Hofstra was favored by about 5 depending on what line you check. Hofstra made 37 out of 42 free throws (.881) which is Hofstra's highest percentage since Hofstra made all 9 two seasons ago at Towson. It was Hofstra's most free throws made since Hofstra made 40 on November 18, 2012 in a double overtime win over Marshall. It was the most free throws Hofstra has made in regulation since at least 2000-2001. The team record is 42 free throws made.

Green and Tanksley scored 21 each and missed 1 free throw each with a combined 24 made. Nesmith scored 16. Kone scored 11 and had 9 rebounds to lead all players. Bernardi scored 9 and had a hard to believe 4 blocked shots. Green led all players with 7 assists. Hofstra had only 8 turnovers. Green, Bernardi, and Nesmith made 3 three-pointers each. Hofstra made 10 three-pointers and shot three-pointers better than two-pointers. Four McGlynn led all scorers with 27. Towson had three players foul out and committed 31 fouls.

Green raised his scoring average from 17.2 to 17.4. Tanksley raised his average from 17.1 to 17.2. Nesmith raised his average from 10.3 to 10.5.

Edit: Hofstra led for 13:30, Towson led for 24:27, and it was tied for 2:03.

I will take this win any day. Gritty comeback against a team that matches up well against us and some really bad officiating in the second half. Agree that the video was almost unwatchable and I went with the Hofstra announcers...at least they can pronounce our players' names. There REALLT should be some kind of standard for the video feeds.

Another thing...why do they advertise that the feeds start at in this case 6:40 and the feed does no come on until seconds before the tip for the Towson introductions...very bad.

This was a gritty road win. Think about this team on January 31. It was a team that lost its way and gave little effort. Tonight, in the first 10 minutes, Towson could do no wrong and this officiating crew blew the whistle every possession it seemed. But you learn alot about a team by how they respond. In the final 30 minutes, they outscored Towson by 20 by playing solid D, rebounding well, hitting their free throws, and not forcing shots. They got good production from the 4 guards and Kone. I take many positives out of this game. They’ve shown in the past they can win a game after being down double digits and they proved it again tonight. Gotta be able to win different ways and in different scenarios. On to the W&M game.

We are 1 game behind 3 teams, and if Delaware knocks off UNCW tomorrow, there will be a 4-way tie for first with Hofstra 1 game out. Either way I think we have solidified a top 6 finish which after the first Towson game wasn’t a guarantee.

Our 3FG% (43.5%) was higher than our FG% (40.8%). How often does that happen?

The last time was January 24 against James Madison. Hofstra has shot three-pointers better than two-pointers in 9 out of 28 games (32.1%).

Funky game, solid comeback and win.

51 fouls is just ridiculous, it looked like this officiating crew was trying to prevent the spread of flu, because if you sneezed around anybody tonight, it was a personal foul.

I did a little research, and apparently there is a whole website dedicated to referee stats. Looks like Andrew Marotta a referee tonight, also was a ref in our game in Boston with Northeastern. Lets hope we don't get him in the CAA tournament.

http://statsheet.com/mcb/referees/andrew-marotta

Gritty win tonight. There was no reason we should have ever been down 14 points, Towson is a painfully sloppy team on both sides of the ball. But I have to give them credit, we were not contesting their shots enough early, and everything was falling for them. The Towson color commentator gave us a strange compliment about how Mihalich must be a very good coach because we played so many defenses throughout the game. Yeah right, his "defenses" didn't work 57.1% of the time, and gave up 21 made free throws.

We won at the free throw line, incredible jobs from Green and Tanksley, the well never dried up tonight, they got fouls on every drive to the hoop. We also made 10 three-pointers, which I still think will be our bread and butter in the conference tournament, so it was good to see an improvement from beyond the arc. Kanye struggled a bit today, but made enough plays to give us an inside presence. We always seem to win when Kanye has a good game, I'm starting to think perhaps he's an underrated cog in determining our success.

Not too much else to take away from the tape of this one because of all the fouls, other than the team showed great composure in the first half to cut the lead, and they showed even better composure to hold the lead nearly all of the second half, despite all of the foul trouble, which has buried us in prior games.

Down 8-0, 29-15 and still 68-64 with 7:35 left; gave up 55% shooting, including 47% (7-15) from 3 and 82 pts on the road to a team HU already lost to by 14 at home... and despite all of that, still found a way to get a much-needed win?

That's a lot to overcome and the fact HU did, is a great job in the end.

After the game at Drexel, when HU scored 81 with no one taking more than 10 shots from the floor, HU puts up 87 with no one taking more than 11 shots, and no starter taking more than eight. Sharing the ball and shots again - great sign down the stretch.

Tanksley and Green scored 21 each on a combined 15 shots because they got to the line and took advantage there often... Tanskley 14-15 and Green 10-11. HU becomes very tough to beat when those two are looking to get to the line that much instead of increasing their field goal attempts with some forced shots (although granted, there were a lot of soft whistles which helped that out).

W&M lost again, at NU last night. Sets up something to keep an eye on tonight... UNCW, which suddenly finds itself all alone in first place at 10-4, and which needed OT to beat UDel by one at home on Jan. 8, plays at UDel tonight. If UDel wins, there will be a four-way tie for first place (with UNCW, NU, JMU and W&M each at 10-5), and HU a game back at 9-6. W&M not too long ago looked like the team to beat. Now HU can actually tie W&M with a with a win on Sunday, and then we'll see how the rest shakes out.

Remaining schedules below. Based on that, anyone care to venture a guess on how the final standings will look on Feb. 28?

UNCW: @DEL, @ TOW, JMU, @ELO
NU: DRE, @ELO, @CHA
JMU: CHA, @UNCW, HOF
W&M: @HOF, TOW, DRE
HU: W&M, CHA, @JMU

Yeah I think this was a pretty big road win all things considered - they toughed it out in a crucial time of yr - sloppy? Maybe at times but Towson can easily say the same - hard to call them sloppy when they only had 8 turnovers - that's fantastic

The inside game wasn't working as well so HU adjusted and hit 3's and got to the line - that's a positive IMO, not a negative - that's what the flow of the game dictated - I'm very excited to see that they've got the ability to win in a variety of ways - getting to the line is very important and they're doing that - AND they're hitting them...very key

And they were able to gut it out with Rokas, Kone, and Nichols in foul trouble in the final minutes - good W any way you slice it at this stage in the game

And Towson was red hot shooting and the refs were sensitive - again, to win this game all things considered was solid!

Things are getting wild down the stretch, this has to be one of the most exciting mid major conf finales around - HU can still be setup nicely - it's all going to be about the matchups... This is going to be a wild tournament!

MONSTER game against the tribe - need this round to go MUCH better for HU...
