Elon beat us 4-3 and 7-1 to make us tied for last at 7-13 with 1 game left. Drexel and Towson are tied for third at 9-11 and will be above us. UNCW at 8-11 and Charleston at 7-12 have two games against each left, and at least one of them will have 9 wins and be above us. We're eliminated. We're 20-27 overall and below .500 for the first time since 1989.

Sara Cornell goes from CAA pitcher of the year2018 to SEC pitcher of the year 2019 with a record of 20-1. After yesterdays win she is 21-1 on the season.

Incredible and she is obviously a very good pitcher but I would imagine that Alabama scored a lot of runs for her.

Also, they announced that Hofstra signed another HS pitcher today, from Illinois. That brings the signing total for 2019-2020 to 8. With only 2 seniors graduating, and assuming nobody else leaves, that would give them a 25 player roster next season.

I am sure that UofA has great O'sive players but it is Cornell ERA (2.15) WHIP (1.15)...both lowered at UofA then when she was at HU...and arguably against better players in the SEC then the CAA..that are her feather in her cap

I hated that she left here (along with Dandola (Syracuse) Wert and Anderson (Missouri)...but she proved that she belongs on the BIGGEST stage.

I get it’s a transition yr, but this was a putrid second half of the season against a very marginal SOS - bottom of the CAA is a place this program should never be in this era.

I saw a small glimmer earlier that lightened my concerns a tad, but they promptly sank like a rock. Awful job to end the yr with zero positive momentum. I remain highly skeptical about this hire.

It was pitching. That was it. Three CAA losses where Hofstra scored 7+ runs in the game. He has 8 new girls coming in next year. Let's see how it pans out.

I hear ya - not tossing him out yet, but I am highly concerned.

Pitching being the problem for a supposed pitching guru is a pretty big red flag to me - and it was the minute the pitching talent bolted after his hire. I get going high level, but that's never been an issue here until this hire, not a good sign to me. Seen it before in other scenarios. Would expect the talent to be excited to work with him, and to flourish under him. Saw zip of that. Team, and pitching, got worse.

Big year next year for him. Best see some serious improvement and tangible signs of being the previous HU program he took over. I do get the transition, wasn't expecting a champ or a NCAAT, but bottom of the barrel is not acceptable for this program, and it took him all of 1 season to take a CAA power to the gutter.

I really like HU softball, have gotten more into it over the years, so I'm really hoping he comes through big time here. But it's show me time.

Alabama is a top 5 team in the country. And while he may be a great pitching coach, if you don't have any history with someone and a chance to be one of the top pitchers in the entire country, how do you not take that chance? As great as Hofstra is, and Bill and Larissa were, the fact is they've never been to a World Series. If she went to a comparable school, I'd be very concerned, but she went for the cream of the crop (oh- and she gave up 1 ER in 9.1 innings over two appearances against Missouri)

And Dandola, she finished with a 5.17 ERA and basically lost her spot as a starter on a pretty bad Syracuse team. She obviously didn't care about softball, and cared about the college experience. Good riddance.

Also don't forget that this team lost 7 seniors (basically the entire lineup) from 2018. It was going to be tough no matter what. The team still hit over .300, and they had a freshman come in and do some serious damage. I think he was put in a tough spot, and did the best with what he had. 8 new girls next year. Practically a brand new team, of his kind of players. Let's give him a year.

Actually I would give him even longer This team had some good parts but we all know pitching is 90% when it comes to softball

All fair points for sure, and certainly more than fair to give him more time - let's see how things look next year.

JMU's Megan Good won twice at Michigan. Of the 48 seeds in the last three tournaments, JMU over Michigan today was the only time the seed didn't win their Regional. JMU goes to a Super Regional at UCLA. It's the third time a CAA team made a Super Regional after JMU in 2016 and us in 2012.

Cornell picked up the W in Bama's 15-3 victory over Florida. They are in the loser's bracket after dropping their first game to Oklahoma (she did not pitch that game.).

Alabama's season just ended. Cornell pitched the seventh and allowed 1 run. Oklahoma won 7-3 to advance to the Finals against UCLA. Oklahoma was the 1 seed and UCLA was the 2 seed. UCLA's last time in the Finals was when they won the 2010 title. Since then, Oklahoma lost the Finals in 2012 and were champion in 2013, 2016, and 2017. UCLA has the most titles with 11 (excluding the 1995 vacated title), and Oklahoma has the third most with 4.
