I think Taylor averaged 6 minutes and 2 points a game for Purdue. If we could get another Taylor, I say do it!triplec2195 wrote:I assume u r talking about Barret Benson who averaged 9 minutes a game for the 3 years he played at Northwestern and averaged 2 points a game. MBB Recruits 2019

Re: MBB Recruits 2019
Saw him play against my SPARTANS - he would be a solid addition - he's got to be bright playing at NU and playing and practicing against Big 10 teamsa big +
Re: MBB Recruits 2019
There are at least 20 bigs on the transfer portal who are eligible for next year...I'm sure we'll land one...it would be a nice addition to add some experience to help Kante along… I'm sure he learned a lot from Jacquil playing against him all season in practice.
Re: MBB Recruits 2019
Isaiah Washington is leaving Minnesota. He is from the Bronx and played at St. Raymonds. Announced his transfer today. PG
Re: MBB Recruits 2019
Now that's interesting!
I watched some highlights on YouTube about St Rays and this was quite an athletic team that shared the ball.
Maybe he and Omar have a plan to re-unite!

Ah!!! You beat me to it. I actually live in Minnesota and follow the gophers behind the Dutch - I was thinking this would be a prime target to pursue - Jam/Speedy should be all over this.Hofstra wrote:Isaiah Washington is leaving Minnesota. Living in Minnesota has it's benefit this weekend - JWF is on the CAA team in the 3x3 Championships at the Mall of America. I'll be there bright and early with Hofstra gear on.
The CAA team is good - JWF, Pusica, Brantley and Cacok

I'll play the Isaiah Washington fantasy game since I like to dream big also but playing the DEVIL'S advocate here so what really is the likelihood that we could get a 4 star player who is transferring from a BIG TEN school?? He was getting a decent amount of playing time there and was averaging over 8 points a game. So why is he unhappy there? Here's his H.S. credentials; Named Mr. New York Basketball as the top player in the Empire State his senior year, just the fourth point guard ever to win the award • Averaged 26 points and six assists for the Ravens • Four-star prospect according to several publications and consensus top-100 recruit • The number-one rated point guard from the state of New York and 13th nationally according to Scout.com • Averaged 17.5 points and 6.8 assists per game playing for the New Heights AAU program on the Under Armour Circuit in summer 2016 • Shared most valuable player honors at the Elite 24 All-American Game, scoring 36 points in a showcase that matched him up with and against some of the nation's top prospects.
What a catch he would be I hope this isn't a dream!!

Maybe I'll rethink this one after looking at what he did in H.S.Pride97 wrote:I think Taylor averaged 6 minutes and 2 points a game for Purdue. Things are certainly getting very interesting...LOL
Re: MBB Recruits 2019
I have no inside info but he was a high school teammate of Omar. Saw a Dyckman st video of him playing with Shamorie Ponds. He is a local kid...maybe he sees the buzz in NYC about Ponds and JWF on ESPN all the time. You never know...maybe he wants some home cookin'.triplec2195 wrote:I'll play the Isaiah Washington fantasy game since I like to dream big also but playing the DEVIL'S advocate here so what really is the likelihood that we could get a 4 star player who is transferring from a BIG TEN school?? We can dream can't we?
Re: MBB Recruits 2019
Would be a great get but doesn't he need to sit out a year? We already have two redshirts and we need the remaining spots for next year's team unless we lose one of our current back ups.
Re: MBB Recruits 2019
Washington would def be fantastic, but I don't think he ends up at HU - he'll have to sit, which is another 'ship not for next season, and HU really needs immediate help in a few areas. Now he is also the kind of talent that if he's open to coming here you do everything you can to figure it out, so I hope there is a chance.
I do think he ends up back in NY as he has had some family and personal issues to deal with, and seems to have struggled a bit in those areas. I could see SJU or Seton Hall. Iona as a backup.
It would be really cool to unite him and Omar again - could be a very very good squad, like Buie and Govan would've been! But I don't feel like that will occur. Either way, seems like a good kid facing some harsh realities of life, hope he progresses well whatever he decides to do.
By the way, I mentioned some time ago about all these NY kids heading out West and how it didn't really add up to me... and low and behold many of them end of coming back. There have been quite a few higher profile guys that have followed that path, going to Nebraska and Minnesota etc. - I get it, big confs, big coaches, etc. but it's not like going out to UCLA. THAT I can see - but these obscure midwest ones don't make a lot of sense to me - doesn't seem like a fit at all for NYC kids. And we are seeing that play out a bit.
As for the Northwestern big, VERY intriguing, has everything we are looking for to compliment Kante and the team in general (skill size and grads). I hope the staff is all over him - prob decent comp for him though... but yeah this is def one I would be very interested in them strongly pursuing.

Re: MBB Recruits 2019
He could apply for a hardship waiver and possibly play right away. If not, like Polito said, you make it work if you can get someone of that caliber. They've had 10 man rosters before - and they only played 7-8 this year anyway.HUSID74 wrote:Would be a great get but doesn't he need to sit out a year? Re: MBB Recruits 2019
Or get someone else to transfer
Re: MBB Recruits 2019
How about Derrik Smits (Rick's son). 7'1" 240 - played about 21 min per game last season. Ave 12 ppg and 6 rpg. He's a one and done transfer out of Valpo.HUSID74 wrote:There are at least 20 bigs on the transfer portal who are eligible for next year...I'm sure we'll land one...it would be a nice addition to add some experience to help Kante along… I'm sure he learned a lot from Jacquil playing against him all season in practice.
Re: MBB Recruits 2019
Yup, he's on the list but I don't know how well he can get up and down the court...you know the way Joe likes to play.Cards wrote:How about Derrik Smits (Rick's son). 7'1" 240 - played about 21 min per game last season. Re: MBB Recruits 2019
Based on his numbers - Smits probably going UP (Big 10) not down (CAA)
Re: MBB Recruits 2019
Another transfer Jahvon Quinnerly from Villanova. I dont think we have a shot at him, but he is from this area as well.
He and Washington were in "Jelly Fam" as high schoolers. A lot of local kids from JF are now transferring. Jordan Walker from Seton Hall transferred to Tulane, Liandre Washington from McNeese State, Isaiah Washington, and now Quinnerly. They had Sidney Wilson from St. Johns, now UConn as well. Interesting.
