I know there are no "must win" games until Baltimore. . .but coming off two loses (1 bad one). This is our first "must win" of the season.

Agreed hualum...what team will take the floor tonight???? Bruiser's teams are always tough and physical defensively...If they can get us to play their tempo getting the W might be tougher than it looks on paper.

Hofstra's lead is down to 39-31 at halftime as Drexel scored at the buzzer. Damion Lee leads all players with 11 points. Green leads Hofstra with 9 points and leads all players with 5 assists. Tanksley has scored only 5. Nichols is tied with Tavon Allen for the rebounding leads with 4 each. Hofstra has made only 1 of their last 8 three-pointers. Bernardi and Nichols are tied for second on Hofstra with 6 points. Sammy Mojica is the game's third leading scorer with 7. All eight Hofstra players have scored. Walker and Gonzalez haven't played.

Edit: Hofstra went up 16 and it's now 51-37. Damion Lee has 15 points with 8 of them being free throws. Bernardi has 12 points with all of his field goal attempts being three-pointers. He's made 4 out of 7.

Hofstra had 75 percent more points than Drexel at 84-48, which was Hofstra's largest lead at 36 points. Drexel ended on a 10-2 run, so Hofstra finished with fewer than 50 percent more points than Drexel but still won 86-58. After Hofstra scored 22 seconds in, there were no ties or lead changes.

Hofstra: Tanksley scored only 9 points. His previous season-low was 12 and it was the first game he didn't score in double-digits. He had 6 rebounds. Green had a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists, but that's well below his scoring average and he had only 2 rebounds. Nichols also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He was third on the team in assists with 3 behind Green and Nesmith who had 4 assists. Bernardi led Hofstra with 23 points. He made 8 out of 12 field goals including 6 out of 10 three-pointers along with making his only free throw attempt. Hofstra made 9 three-pointers with Green, Tanksley, and Robinson making 1 each. Hofstra had 23 assists which is 2 short of the team record. Gustys and Kone both made more than half their field goals and scored 8 points each. Gustys had 8 rebounds and Kone had 5. Nesmith scored 8 but made only 3 out of 10 field goals. Robinson was eighth on the team with 7 points. At the end Gonzalez and Walker played 4 minutes each and Fowlkes played 3 minutes, with Gonzalez scoring the only 2 points from them. Hofstra had 12 steals, with Green having 3, three players having 2, and three players having 1. Kone led Hofstra with 2 blocked shots and Green had our other block. Hofstra attempted way more field goals, 69 to 51. Hofstra attempted only 8 free throws. Kone missed his only attempt and the other 7 were made.

Drexel: Damion Lee had 27 points and 7 rebounds to lead Drexel. He made 1 out of 2 free throws two games ago but has made at least 10 free throws without a miss in consecutive games with 10 one game ago and 13 tonight. Tavon Allen led all players with 15 field goal attempts but he made only 3 and scored 10 points. He had 5 rebounds and led Drexel with 4 assists. Drexel players other than Lee made only 3 out of 9 free throws.

Comparisons: Drexel shot three-pointers better than Hofstra, 37.5 percent to exactly 36 percent. Drexel made only 12 out of 35 two-pointers for 35.3 percent, which is worse than they shot three-pointers. To compare, Northeastern made 67.6 percent of their two-pointers against Hofstra, which is almost double what Drexel did. Drexel committed only 10 fouls, which is 7 fewer than Hofstra. Drexel had 1 more fast break point and 1 more blocked shot, but Hofstra led most of the statistics. Points in the paint were 50 to 16 in favor of Hofstra!

Edit: William & Mary is tied with Hofstra in the CAA standings after they blew a 17 point lead and lost 84-80 at Delaware. Omar Prewitt had 30 points and 7 rebounds for William & Mary, while Terry Tarpey had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. Marcus Thornton played worse than usual and scored 15. Delaware was led by Kory Holden with 24 points, 9 assists, and a great field goal percentage, and Kyle Anderson with 23 points.

We handed Drexel their largest margin of defeat all season. Their previous high was a 26 point loss to William and Mary. We also scored the most against them of any opponent this season, with the previous high being Iona scoring 81.

UNC Wilmington's two leading scorers made 2 out of 11 field goals and 2 out of 13 field goals to score 11 each in their 58-56 overtime win at College of Charleston.

Edit: Green did not attempt a free throw. He had attempted at least 4 free throws in every game this season before tonight.

We did what we needed to do tonight. This is exactly the way to beat teams that are struggling. We played pretty well today, all the pieces were working and everyone got a chance to play and contribute. On to JMU - should be a good game.

This was a GREAT win. Got to empty the bench, and the starters were phenomenal. Looked like Rokas was having fun out there tonight. Haven't seen that in a while from him. Hope he can develop into a real talent.

As I was exiting the arena a man asked me if students were back on campus yet. Im 30. It was a good day all around. I actually can't wait for the students to come back on campus. They will hopefully rally behind this team and we can get a great turnout in Baltimore this year. This team deserves it.

First game of the year that I missed. I dont know about the rest of you but this is the worst Drexel team I can remember. I the second half they didnt put up a fight at all. When we are hitting our outside shots we look like a great team. Against inferior competition we look unbeatable. Still we did what we had to do. Onto the next game against a much better JMU squad.
