Thought the Martin twins were Rutgers bound, Nevada seems like a strange choice to me...

Alas, on the more important HU front, I don't expect we'll hear much right now, and even though I love the 2 that they signed, I do feel like there's still a need for more

Losing out on some key targets hurt, I don't blame the staff for that stuff; however, it does 'feel' like they waited in some ways to late signing period, and *IF* that occurred, that doesn't work when you don't make the dance - with 4 scholarships to fill they should've been able to land 2 in the first session, rather than depending on the late session to fill everything

Not how I want to feel going into this summer. :?

I actually agree Polito but staying positive let us see who we end up with. By the way new assistant may have some recruiting contacts and/or relationships.

I agree Bob. I know it's late but there are still tons of transfers on the board and maybe DJambo will be a reality... which certainly explains the lack of news/action on the recruiting front.

NJ Hoops @NJHoops
Holy Spirit senior Tyler Jones to visit Hofstra this week
https://twitter.com/NJHoops/status/740634983673499648

and speaking of recruits, Mid-Major Madness has an article on the top newcomers to the CAA next year. Pemberton the first one listed. Nice writeup on him as well. http://www.midmajormadness.com/2016/6/8 ... -list-2016

I assume Tyler Jones is class of 2016' ?? If so he would probably redshirt next season if he decides to come to Hofstra

I see that Tyler Jones is listed as 6'7" 205 lbs and has been named on NJ all star teams, pre season McDonalds list, etc. That being said, I cant find any video on him, he is not listed anywhere on "verbal commits", I only see some local NJ articles on him. Is there some kind of issue with him?? Is he a project kid? Bad grades?? Anyone find out anything about him?

I think that's a different Tyler Jones. The one we're talking about, I believe is a 5-11 point guard... lot's of Tyler Jones' out there!

I'm confused. Both these guys from Holy Spirit HS.

Here is the 6'7" Tyler Jones http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/spor ... 3962a.html

The smaller one is a good passer/ball handler (D1 material???)

Will the real Tyler Jones please stand up!

Bob...he would probably red shirt because we already have two smallish point guards in Buie & Powers...

Did Tyler jones actually visit last week?? Any word on how it went?

Anyone hear anything else regarding recent activity? Are we going into the season with 10 Scholarship players and one walk-on? Three open scholarships seems like too many to me. I agree with always keeping one available for a surprise transfer or the like, or maybe even two. Three?? Personally, I think JAM was smitten by one or two guys he thought we would land but went elsewhere.

I do also understand and agree with JAMs approach that we won't settle on mediocre players just to fill the roster. He has brought in high level talent so far, and I think we have to continue to trust his judgement and strategy.

Heading into next season with 3 open scholarships is not good for Hofstra. Hopefully JAM still has something in the works??

Right now our depth chart looks something like this. If Sabety can play the 4 effectively in certain situations that would be a big help. At this point I have heard he will only back up Rokas at the 5.

Buie/Powers
Bernardi/ JWF
Robinson/Pemberton
Greer/
Gustys/Sabety/Walker

I am confident that Pemberton can swing between the 3 & 2 spots so if Sabety can play the 4 in certain situations that would be big

He must have something in the works... agree that 3 open scholarships is at least one too many... maybe he has Djambo up his sleeve... who knows?

I agree guys. If Sabety is only a 5, than we are very thin at the 4.

In a pinch I guess Robinson could go to the 4, but that's a real small lineup and something I would not want to rely on (even for 10 minutes per game). :( Certainly a lineup that would make me cringe going into the Barclays to play UK.

I don't understand JM going into the season with three guys at the 5. With Rok playing 32+ min per game, the other two will not be happy with their playing time.
Either AW will not be playing at all, or HS will play a few minutes per game at the 4, or JM has something else in mind. but as it stands, there is a logjam at the 5. Frankly, I would love to see how other teams matched up if Rok and AW played together for a few minutes per game (kind of an experiment to see what happens ;) )

I would like to see this lineup on floor from time to time again, depending on situation...

PG Buie or Powers
SG Pemberton
SF Greer
PF Sabety
C Gustys

Gives us size and athleticism
