Re: Men's Basketball at College of Charleston on 1/7/2016

So amped for this game, the most for a CAA game in a long time. Barry or no Barry, this is a must win. I want to see C of C at full strength honestly, but if we're -4, it looks like Barry might be out. CoC picked up two excellent freshman starters, Pointer (PG) and Brantley (PF) which have seemed to...

Re: MBB attendance VS performance

NO. There is ZERO chance of this guys. Please, let's stop even entertaining this idea - that's how bad rumors get started. That has never been even a discussion IMO unless someone with real cred can show me PROOF otherwise. HU is all for having a quality D1 dept, and they do. They NEVER would've bo...

Re: MBB - Depth and Playing Time

Interesting info you've uncovered FD. 243rd nationally.....WOW. Well at least we know that JAM style is not specific to HU. Unfortunately, IMO,that not such a good thing. I like what JAM had done, his recruiting, and the whole ball of wax......this fact you uncovered is probably what I would consid...

Re: MBB attendance VS performance

Flying Dutchman here is the situation. If we win they will show up. Ok last season both teams won 20 games and were in the post season. Where are the fans? Both teams men and women are on pace for the lowest attendance fiqures since we opened the Mack and joined the CAA. We have the CAA preseason p...

Re: MBB at Towson

THANK YOU Cards - I've been saying this ad nauseam - read carefully: this is NOT about HU winning individual games HU has a strong starting 5, they have talent, they have experience, they have a powerful O - they are going to win games this year - NEVER was this a question. BUT read this carefully ...

Re: MBB attendance VS performance

Truthfully, how important is advertising for our program? A few hundred seats if that? The attendance numbers show it, when we're good, people show up, when we suck, when we play pathetic OOC opponents, empty seats galore. Also, how many of those tickets in the attendance numbers just pure giveaways...

Re: Hofstra to play Kentucky in 1st sporting event at new Na

if HU fans students and community people can't get pumped to take a whole 30-45 min trek to Barclays to watch HU take on one of the most storied programs in all of college basketball, they should have their heads examined, sports credibility completely destroyed, and never be allowed to attend ANY ...

Re: joe lunardi bracketology for 2015-2016

Hofstra and Northeastern are tied in the CAA standings and haven't played each other. Northeastern has the better RPI, so I don't know what made Lunardi choose Hofstra. Probably the Pomeroy Ratings, since he put Houston on the 14 line and Yale on the 13 line. 12-16 lines are pretty much verbatim wi...

Re: MBB attendance VS performance

Playing a Division II opponent, having a 5 week hiatus between home games, playing the likes of an FAU and Sacred Heart, and having the conference home opener at 1pm on New Years Eve of all days, are not recipes for success for drawing good crowds. The program needs some breakthroughs if it wants t...

Re: MBB vs. Sacred Heart - 12/28/15, 7 PM

The starting lineup needs to be shaken up and Buie should start over Koon. We need a defensive jolt. Also, the bench needs to be able to log about 55-60 minutes per game, give Koon and Nichols about 25 mins, JWF 10 mins, and watch this team take off. I don't think we'll be out of any game with our ...

Re: MBB vs. Sacred Heart - 12/28/15, 7 PM

A win's a win. It was ugly for the most part, but we put Sacred Heart away when they got in foul trouble. I think the major problem with our defense is Juan'ya guarding the opposition's main ball handler. He gets beat off the dribble nearly every time, it's frankly embarrassing, and it led to Rokas ...

Re: MBB Defense

We're 226th in adjusted D on Kenpom, second worst in the CAA. Florida Atlantic is reeling offensively though, it was a nice, comfortable win last night no doubt, but the decent defensive performance means little. After going to the Stony Brook game I'm beginning to think our main defensive problem i...

Re: Basketball tickets - Hofstra vs Stony Brook

Also, who's going on Sunday? I just picked up the tickets from Hofstra today... They screwed us and put us in the 200's for $22 a pop, better tickets are probably available through Stony Brook for less. It's obviously not a matter of the price, but I don't know why we couldn't get seats in the 100's.

Re: Basketball tickets - Hofstra vs Stony Brook

To add to that, a main goal of the Pomeroy ratings is to measure offensive and defensive efficiency on a possession basis, which expresses itself in win differential. Last year we were highly regarded in the Pomeroy when we were blowing out those really bad teams in the OOC. This year, while we have...

Re: Juan'ya Green to the NBA?

I think Juan'ya is more talented than Charles in a lot of ways, I think he's the best offensive player we've had since Speedy. Personally though, I don't think Green has the athleticism to make it in the NBA. He has good shooting range, he's a better three point shooter than Charles, but he will str...

Re: Chris Weidman

Weidman was a hell of a champ, love the guy, brutal loss. Rockhold was probably physically superior, but he was getting really gassed in the third, and Weidman arrogantly threw a spinning wheel kick, so out of character. Credit to Rockhold for capitalizing on the mistake and finishing in the fourth....

Re: MBB Game 9 - Siena

The source of our problems is that we're very limited athletically. Besides for Nichols and the freshmen, I don't think we have athletes good enough to play man to man defense on our level. The CAA is a step up athletically from the MAAC and Ivy League, and we have guys who are physically on that le...
