Re: 2019 Women's Soccer

I know there's been a few, although I have no idea if you ever saw them. Ayanna McClean played for Trinidad's national field hockey team before she came to Hofstra.

Looks like they figured out how to get the teams back and forth. Spotted on the LIE.

Re: 2019-20 schedule news

Hofstra shouldn't make more than one long out of conference trip per season. Spend the money on being able to fly rather than bus to Virginia, Boston, and out of conference games depending on the season like St. Bonaventure this season and VCU last season. Quicker travel could be a recruiting tool....

Re: 2019-20 schedule news

It's a recruiting tool- coaches love saying to kids "look, we go to Southern California and Florida!" Don't forget that you're trying to make a bunch of 18-21 year olds happy, and what better way than to get them out of class and on a plane to SoCal?

Re: LIU Athletics

Well, my information was very wrong. Not only will they be playing on Long Island, they'll be splitting their games between Iceworks in Syosset and Northwell in East Meadow (where Hofstra plays). But the oddest part is that they will be playing a lot of ganes on Fridays at 3:00 in Syosset, and then ...

Re: What's Next for JWF?

Oh yes but give it a few years 100% chance No. 3 is retired. But I don't see why it should have to take so long, provided JWF and Hofstra can coordinate the schedules. Jenkins' number was retired on his Senior Day. Let's hope it's when the Jazz come to play Brooklyn or the Knicks, and not when Salt...

There's as much jazz in Utah as there are grizzly bears in New Orleans.

Re: What's Next for JWF?

I had the good fortune of going to a Tennessee-Florida basketball game in 2006 on our road trip with the softball team- first off, what an atmosphere. Second, despite Tennessee being so good back then, nobody was drafted. Florida, on the other hand, had Noah, Brewer, Horford, Green, and Richard all ...

Re: End of 2019 Baseball Season

They had two players drafted, albeit late in the draft. They had two taken last year as well, first time they've gone back to back drafts having multiple players taken. Parker Quinn went in the 25th round, 753rd overall to the Nationals, and Vito Friscia went in the 30th round, 1200th overall to Phi...

Re: Softball 2019

Cornell picked up the W in Bama's 15-3 victory over Florida. They are in the loser's bracket after dropping their first game to Oklahoma (she did not pitch that game.).

Re: LIU Athletics

I have to imagine there will be a constant bus running between the two campuses, as students can take classes at both. And who knows, maybe they'll run a fan bus to the games. But the issue isn't so much the fans as it is the athletes, who practice 6 days a week and have to spend an hour+ traveling ...

Word is their hockey games will be played at Aviator in Brooklyn. That's 30 min from campus on a good day. An hour or so at 3 in the afternoon.

Re: NCAA Lax QFs

Considering the barrier we had with PGA Championship spiking up hotel room costs, which am sure deterred many potential fans who may have otherwise come from outside region, I'll take 8K as a moral victory and it looked much bigger than that at times. Aesthetically stadium looked amazing on TV with...

The Brooklyn campus is 3 blocks from Atlantic Terminal. And Post is closer to the Greenvale station than Hofstra is to the Hempstead one.

Re: End of 2019 Baseball Season

Disappointing loss to end the season- up 4-0 after 4, they allow 6 runs in the next 4 innings, and 5 more in the 9th, and lose 11-4.

Re: NCAA Lax QFs

A shade over 8,000 showed up yesterday. Considering the teams and the weather, that's pretty disappointing. But attendance has been dropping for lacrosse for years now- they used to pack NFL stadiums for the final four, and now in '21 and '22 it will be at Rentschler Field, and I'd expect that trend...

Teams that will compete in Brooklyn are: Basketball (Men’s and Women’s), Bowling (Women’s), Fencing (Women’s), Ice Hockey (Women’s), Softball, Swimming (Women’s), Track & Field (Men’s and Women’s), Volleyball (Women’s), and Water Polo (Women’s). Teams that will compete at Post are: Baseball, Cro...

Re: LIU Athletics

It's all LIU now- no more Brooklyn or Post. The former Post men's team will be moving up to DI and playing in the NEC. The former Brooklyn already had a women's team in the NEC- the players from Post can either try and make the Brooklyn team, transfer, or if they had a scholarship, keep it and finis...

Huh. I don't believe there was any program in DI with the Sharks nickname, and now there's two in one week (with Long Beach State changing their mascot).
