Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
Apparently Hofstra’s LAX W/L record, its fan retention and steady decline in attendance, their diminished ability to effectively recruit, etc have had no impact on the AD to even consider a change that is so evident. Those who have reached out to Cole have been ignored, unless it’s a request to supp...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
To even the very casual observer, Hofstra men’s lax program has been in steady decline for nearly 2 decades, even with a softening of the schedule. We have replaced games against top 20 matchups against the likes of Army, Princeton, UNC, and Virginia with teams like Hampton, Manhattan, Binghamton, S...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
I have no earthly idea what metrics are being used by the AD in regards to men’s lacrosse. Seemingly, there are none. Logically, you would think it the teams won-lost record or alternatively conference championships would be critical but both of those performance criteria are poor. It can’t be atten...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
Latest computer lax poll would indicate Hofstra would be favored in only 3 games the balance of the season. One of our losses came against Holy Cross, who is ranked in the bottom 10. The only high probability winnable game would be agsint Hampton, ranked dead last. Our only win to date against Iona,...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
The last time any Hofstra sports coach was terminated was 2014, when the tennis coach was removed for sexual harassment. If I am a betting man, I venture to speculate that we will be saying adieu to ST at his retirement dinner.

Hofstra wrestling
Two Hofstra programs that were perennial top 20 ranked teams in year past have regrettably have lapsed into near oblivion. This board has rightfully been critical of the lacrosse team performance, but the other program that gets no mention is wrestling. The loss of Coach Tim Ryan to OSU was the real...

Re: Men's Soccer 2025
I can not think of any coach in Hofstra’s history that has achieved what Coach Nuttall has done. He took a program that had languished for years and turned it into a Top 25 caliber team which improved every year over a 30+ year run. Beyond his W-L record is a very classy and warm hearted person who ...

Brant Aleya’s passing
Really surprised that there was no announcement of the passing of Brant Aleya earlier this month, one of Hofstra’s best athletes of any era. Coached by Butch van Breda Kolf, Alyea and the Dutchmen enjoyed significant basketball success in the NCAA College Division. In the 1959-60 season, they finish...

Re: CAA MBB Semifinal Game vs. UNCW - Monday, March 6, 6PM
As a former graduate who played varsity soccer for Hofstra a couple of generations ago, I have frequented this site often over the last couple of years. I feel compelled to comment as some of the fan base has respectfully lost perspective on what has been accomplished under Claxton's guidance. First...
