Re: MBB Game 18 - @ Northeastern - 1/14/15, 7 PM

without digging into the NCAA rulebook - anyone know if he can still be redshirted? that certainly would explain things.

Re: MBB recruits 2015

seems like many coaches don't hesitate to keep one spot open for surprises (i.e. unforseen transfers) like Djambo or the guy that went to Manhattan that we tried to get. If you don't have a real need to fill it, its not a bad strategy just in case. Another big recruiting year next year as we will be...

Re: MBB recruits 2015

Assuming we are fully funded we get 13. Next year we have Sr - Green, Tanksley, Nichols, Djambo JR - Bernardi, Robinson Soph - Gonzalez, Gustys, Walker Fr - Buie, Wright-Foreman So, I think we still have 2 open spots. Of course walkups are always open. I am 90% sure about the # of scholarships HU of...

Re: MBB Game 19 - UNCW - 1/17/15, 2 PM

Was at the game today - first chance to post. As others have noted - Green, Bernardi, and Gustys all ploayed subpar. Only highpoints were Kone and Nichols (for a brief period in first half). This far into the season, it is clear to me that although Nickols is very athletic and at times can shine, ge...

Re: MBB Game 19 - UNCW - 1/17/15, 2 PM

Thats a great idea. Why not free tickets, or 2 for 1,or something like that.

Not counting chickens too early - of course anything can happen in a sports contest. Just saying it's the way things should turn out.............

Re: MBB Game 19 - UNCW - 1/17/15, 2 PM

Yep - I'm expecting it to be pretty quiet at the game. Do classes start next week?? With a win tomorrow (?) can we expect a good turnout next Wed and Sat (assuming school is in session). Not to be overly optomistic, but I would think Wed against Drexel should be a blowout. Without Nation, I think JM...

Re: MBB Game 18 - @ Northeastern - 1/14/15, 7 PM

I thought Kone looked the best has has so far this year. It was good to see him having a positive impact. That being said, he is clearly not a middle man (built more like an athletic PF). It underscores our weakness in the paint against good teams. NE with Eatherton is the perfect example. He easily...

Re: MBB Game 18 - @ Northeastern - 1/14/15, 7 PM

We were like swiss cheese on defense. Way to many points in the paint (and it was not because NE was so good down low). Walker on NE was very good tonight. NE as a team is not a high scoring team....until they play us! Too many easy drives, open layups, and Etherton "back ins". Yes there l...

Re: MBB Game 17 - @ Elon - 1/10/15, 8 PM

I agree stuball - pretty impressive win. this in light of the fact that Kone, Gustys, and Green all played less than normal minutes in the first half (foul trouble). If I had to come up with criticism, it would be that once again we start slow. The first 5 minutes or so we just come out looing out o...

Re: MBB Game 15 - Delaware - 1/5/15, 7 PM

I have no issue with his age because it is playing time he needs (to mature from a basketball standpoint) and he will get a full 4 years of that. He does not need to mature physically (he is already done growing). Guys like Walker are guys that will benefit physically over the course of thier first ...

Re: MBB Game 15 - Delaware - 1/5/15, 7 PM

As i said in my mid-year review of the OCC part of the schedule (on the other thread) Rokus is a beast and when he relaxes on offense he will be a real threat. Yes, he looks sloppy trying to score now, but anyone at the game tonight could see the potential....he was not taking bad shots, just missin...

Re: MBB Game 15 - Delaware - 1/5/15, 7 PM

Not good news about Green. I still have confidence in a "W" with nesmith starting, but obviously would feel better with more depth (a healthy Green).

Re: MBB: Midyear Review

This is a tough one, but I think I would go with a B+. The record reflects a resounding turnaround from the last few years. Being solidly in the win column shows the successful impact that JAM (and the univ committment) has already had. Nothing beats winning and the program is certainly on the right...

Re: MBB Game 14 - @ UNCW - 1/3/15, 2 PM

12 pt victory. We played better in the 2nd half. We had help for UNCW (they played poorly). I am glad to see a victory on the road to open up the season, but we cannot continue to show up for only 20 minutes per game. We need to get back on track. Good to see Gustys back - definitely a presence on t...

Re: MBB Game 14 - @ UNCW - 1/3/15, 2 PM

down 11 at half. very poor showing. Shooting is horrible. Gustys has missed 3 or 4 shots inside 5 feet. Many three point shots are not even close - hitting the outside of the rim! Travels, lost dribbles, looks like a team that beats RPI 300+ teams but cant play with anybody competent. We should be d...

Re: MBB Game 13 - @ CCSU - 12/31/14, 4 PM

final 84-56. Boring game. CCSU had little talent and little depth (I think they suited 7 players). Don't see this as any kind of warm-up for UNCW - this was basically a cakewalk against an inferior team. Good to see Kone moving around more and playing more minutes. Although he was scoring its hard t...

Re: MBB recruits 2015

both these guys look pretty talented - looks like they can score from anywhere and both attack the basket well. I'm kinda partial to the 6'5" guy since our two high school commits are in the 6 to 6'1" range. In fact, the attached link is a highlight of Trent. Funny how he almost looks/play...
