Re: Monmouth/Rider
Fixed this for you triplec: "If Hofstra wins 20 games this year I would be very happy. This is generally the Benchmark for a successful season. ...AT HOFSTRA." Good point Polito but actually wasn't making a reference to postseason play just reflecting on a 20 win regular season which I'm b...

Re: Media Thread
They have been on the losing end of these wild scenarios so they were overdue. I remember some years ago when Delaware had that good team loaded with strong guards and they were losing by 2 at HU and one of these guys threw up a shot almost from half court to beat Hofstra at the buzzer. This was a d...

Re: LED Scoreboard
I always liked this scoreboard but noticed for the first time this year it wasn't working at the Army game and was intermittent at the Molloy game. Why can't it be fixed properly??

Re: Monmouth/Rider
If Hofstra wins 20 games this year I would be very happy. This is generally the Benchmark for a successful season. Not to be redundant but playing with questionable PG play and the possibility of teams full court pressing Hofstra to death I don't know what to expect. Will it be JM game plan going fo...

Re: Monmouth/Rider
Flying Dutchmen" That's just the truth, Trueheart should get all of his minutes. I totally respect him for being a team guy, and coming up from D-III, but he shouldn't be a D-1 rotation player if Hofstra expects to win basketball games. The dude is overachieving, that should be good enough. I w...

Re: Monmouth/Rider
OK let's not get contentious about HS. Last year he started 4 games when ROK was hurt and certainly played well. I'm in his corner because I like his energy and he picks up the team more often then not with dunks and block shots. This is his resume from last year; 2016-17: Named to Colonial Athletic...

Re: Monmouth/Rider
Let's be clear here I like our guard play but ROK is a very valuable part of this team. JM made the point that Rider's game plan was to stop him and he didn't throw up wild shots like he might have done in the past. The fact that he didn't take any shots while being weird was a plus for us because R...

Re: Monmouth/Rider
I like the remark Gritty performance Flying Dutchmen re JA. He gets lost in the shuffle with the conversation always revolving around JWF AND EP. He's doing here what he has done his whole college career getting over 8 pts. and almost 6 boards per game and this guy can shoot free throws @ 82%. He's ...

Re: Monmouth/Rider
OK while this game is fresh in my mind it was a disturbing game to watch maybe except for the end since winning is always sweet. I don't want to reiterate what everyone has already said re turnovers and non existent PG play all good points. This game started to swing our way when both ST and JR came...

Re: Monmouth/Rider
I could never figure out why ST hasn't been playing more minutes from the get go but was part of the group of suspended players for the first game. He might have wound up on the shit list after that but clearly he has a big upside. He can play big, rebound and block shots. Who else blocks shots on t...

Re: Hofstra vs Villanova - 12/22/17 (Nassau Coliseum)
I don't know all that much about Villanova but will research this team as the game gets closer. After seeing them play the other day against Gonzaga ranked #12 I felt like they were just toying with them. They had players rotating in and out like they had a bench 30 strong. I think they could win by...

Re: Monmouth/Rider
Just got back from the game, and to say it was eventful is an understatement. The Good: We won. Trueheart, Angus, Ray played very well. I thought JWF played well, but faltered big time down the stretch. Was really nice to fight back from getting hammered. As a fan in the stands, I wrote this game o...

Re: Monmouth/Rider
I don't want to break my arm patting myself on the back but posted the following after the Siena loss; I'm going to go out on a limb and say with over a month to play in OOC games we could very well see some radical lineup changes. I believe Trueheart will start to find more minutes and show he des...

Re: Monmouth/Rider
I'm buying into this philosophy of no excuses. Hofstra has three proven players in RG,EP AND JWF. JWF may be the best player in the CAA but definitely in the conversation and RG is a rebounding machine. EP is playing at a higher level then last year and is hitting a high % of his shots. This is enou...

Re: Women's Basketball 2017-18
I watched the women's basketball game last night thru Hofstra's portal and what a sloppy game. It's no secret why they lost this game with 23 turnovers. It can't come soon enough the debut of Boogie Brozoski. I believe this game would of had a different outcome with her running the point. Their 3 po...

Re: CAA Play OOC
We need to beware a lot of these teams are looking good early. We have been hearing going back to the days of Green and Tanksley that HU will be playing for championships in the CAA every year. When you reflect on last years team getting knocked out by Delaware in the 1st round last year after beati...

Re: CAA Play OOC
The CAA is def down this year - it has never been easier to win this conf. You know where I'm going with that. There will always be good players though - it's a quality league, even in down times. Pierce was a strong recruit, don't know much about the Drexel transfer kid, but didn't they also have ...

Re: CAA Play OOC
I definitely like assist/turnover ratio but I'm more going to judge a players upside by what I see with my eyes and IMO I see tentative play from our points. I like an aggressive guy on both sides of the ball someone who can penetrate and either dish or score, someone who can pull up on the break an...
