Re: MBB recruits 2016
JMU is a Virginia school too. But I don't see why this all matters. They don't like us, whoopdeedoo. Let's move on and play some basketball.

Re: MBB team photo
Verbal commits says Fowlkes left for personal reasons but who actually knows? Walk-ons don't generally stay more tha a year if they're not getting playing time.

Re: Colin Curtin
Looks like all the players are already graduated from college. Was hoping that would mean we'd have a nice pool for future recruits. Congrats to Colin and the team nonetheless!

Re: OT-Colonial rookie of the year transfers to BYU
That's a shame. I loved watching him play. The CAA is extremely weak this year and Hofstra has a golden opportunity to capitalize.

Re: MBB recruits 2016
I agree with that and they probably are. But sometimes you have to be realistic about what you can get, especially with a class as important as this one. You don't want to leave scholarships on the table if you swing and miss at a bunch of 3 and 4-stars.

Re: MBB recruits 2016
To answer your second question bobe, mid majors seldom get anything higher than 2-star ratings. Juan'ya and Ameen were both 2-star recruits. So was Scott Eatherton. Just because they're 2-stars doesn't mean they're useless.

Re: MBB recruits 2015
I disagree that they're an injury away from giving major minutes to JWF or Buie if they don't deserve it. Maybe if it's Juan'ya but an injury is a disaster for any team if it's your star player. They have tons of depth at the G/F position and it's great to see the depth for once. If Jamall develops ...

Re: MBB recruits 2015
There are a few problems with addressing the guard need this year: 1. I wouldn't really call it a need. Juan'ya is probably going to play 38-39 mins a game which leaves you with three guys you can play at SG (Bernardi, JWF, Buie, sometimes Robinson). There isn't really room for another wing. Go ahea...

For me, Samuel > Zabo but either one would be huge.

Re: MBB recruits 2015
Jon Rothstein reporting that UConn transfer Terrence Samuel is visiting Hofstra this weekend. Defense-oriented point guard who will have to sit out but after that he'll have two years of eligibility.

Re: MBB recruits 2015
That Koon isn't a true big is slightly concerning as I've heard the same kind of thing about Djambo.

Re: MBB recruits 2015
I'll be surprised if that last scholarship isn't used on a wing that would sit out next year. As people here have mentioned before, makes sense to have guys to bridge over for when our 5 seniors leave. We already got a big like that in Sabety, then Gustys and Walker should be a solid rotation. Need ...

Re: MBB recruits 2015
Would think that if they were planning to apply for a waiver that would have been mentioned somewhere. Maybe they don't want to? Might think he needs the extra year to learn the D1 game and gain some strength. I really like this pickup, unconventional but solid nonetheless. I'm happy that all of the...

Re: MBB recruits 2015
The wing you refer to who picked St. Joseph's is Charlie Brown, but he was 2016, not 2015. Unless you mentioned that earlier and I didn't catch it. Regardless, a transfer guard is exactly what the team needs right now. Any idea if they're immediately eligible or not?

Not that it really matters but he tweeted that he enjoyed campus at noon and the music fest didn't really start until the afternoon. Bummer.

Re: MBB recruits 2015
He graduated so he won't have to sit out a year. Great get, just worried about loaded 2016 graduating class now. Development of Buie, JWF, and Rokas/Walker are going to be key. As will this upcoming 2016 recruiting class. A little worried 2016-2017 will be a step backwards but Koon fills a great nee...

Re: MBB recruits 2015
Sorry to be that guy, but there's no reason he would want to come here. Wouldn't get any more of a role in the offense than he had at St. John's. We're not a big-heavy team. If a big comes to Hofstra it would likely be a hybrid big like Nichols who knows they would play in the system.

Re: MBB recruits 2015
Gustys was a starter at the best high school program in the nation and Walker received an offer from Shaka Smart. This team isn't known for its bigs though and potential bigs coming to Hofstra know they'll have a diminished role in the system compared to other places they're getting offers from.
