Flying Dutchmen Fans

The dance team deserves a shout out for the news they received yesterday. They have been chosen to participate at the world championships as Team USA. They will be competing against the national teams of several other countries around the world. I think it's pretty cool that we can say Hofstra IS Team USA. And it's not just one or two dancers on the team, it's the entire team.

The world competition is coming up very soon. As our dance team prepares for their transformation into Team USA, here's a video on what it took to get this far, as well as some footage of them rehearsing in the fitness center. Here's to hoping they make their University and the entire country proud!

And as far as being a major accomplishment for a mid major, there were 2 schools chosen to represent Team USA. Hofstra is competing in the Pom completion, and the other school chosen was Cincinatti. I don't remember what competition they're doing. In the video, our coach mentions a list of schools that were team USA in the past, and they basically weren't mid majors.

It's pretty cool to scroll through their twitter feed and look at all of the support they're getting from dance teams and other groups around the country.

I wonder if Newsday will run that story. Hofstra should be calling Newsday now for interviews with the squad.

Bringing this back up, as both Cheer and Dance got the honor of representing Team USA down in Colombia at the Pan-American competition this weekend. Of course both teams won gold!
