Hofstra women's soccer 2021

Amazing start to the new campaign with convincing 5-1 win against Stony Brook and was awesome to see more than 1,000 fans in attendance, which included many from local youth soccer clubs. Should be a fun season ahead that is hopefully capped by an NCAA Tourney bid.

Very promising start for Georgia Brown and what a great name! I love how this team is full of veterans but also includes promising freshman like Brown and Leah Iglesias.

Miri's goal made Sports Center top 10 at number eight. Our athletic communications staff has done incredible job alerting ESPN of these plays and we got gotten on this segment quite a bit in 2021.

We lost 2-1 at Number 7 Penn State while having over double the shots, 19 to 9. Penn State had more shots on goal, 6 to 4. It's rare for a mid-major to lose and enter a poll, but that's what we did. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-wo ... er-coaches has us Number 25. It's nice when poll voters don't punish teams for losing to better teams. https://gohofstra.com/news/2021/8/31/wo ... kings.aspx is titled "WSOC: Hofstra Jumps Into United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Rankings." I like the top and bottom team in the poll as Florida State got 32 of 34 first place votes. With the United States starting World Cup 2022 qualifying on Thursday night, it's a big soccer time for me.

They looked very impressive at Penn State and showed they can compete toe-to-toe with the nation's best.

Our 3-0 win at Columbia was on ESPN Plus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FGCr_INm-c has highlights, and it's nice seeing Number 25 in front of our name.

This team continues to role with that said they really miss Sabrina Bryan Lucy Porters numbers are down I think of by all the assists Sabrina got on Lucy’s goals It will now be more of a committee of pkayers who take control of the games

Hofstra remained Number 25 in the poll and went up from 88 to 105 points. There are 34 voters, 105/34 is greater than 3, and 23rd place votes are worth 3, so we have more points than if a team was 23rd on every ballot. The distribution always has more than 25 teams getting more than 1 point per ballot, so being 25th on every ballot would not be enough to be ranked.

Lucy Shepherd scored 6:26 into a 4-0 win hosting Yale, who fell to 0-6. Shots were 27 to 2, and shots on goal were 14 to 0.

I hope we move up in the poll. The NCAA hasn't made an RPI yet.

We moved up to 23rd. In what I call the northeast and New England we fell to third because Princeton entered at Number 22. Rutgers leads the region in 16th. Princeton beat Rutgers 4-3, which knocked Rutgers down 7 spots. I consider eastern Pennsylvania to be in the northeast and western Pennsylvania including Penn State and Pitt to be in the midwest. We play at Princeton tomorrow at 7:00 P.M. on ESPN Plus, which is our only game this week, so if we win we will pass Princeton. Princeton goes to Delaware on Sunday. Delaware is 3-5-0 and doesn't play before then, so beating Delaware won't keep Princeton ranked if they lose to us. The last meeting was a 2-1 win by host Number 23 Princeton on September 9, 2018. Sabrina Bryan scored in that game.
