Give ODU credit. They are all over these European players
Re: MBB Recruits 2018
As is HU, so gotta give JM & Co. same credit.
Very interesting to read about the lack of bigs in the US for the '18 class, and how that impacts the strategy of D1's being more aggressive in the Euro market. Love stuff like that - good job by the staff to be all over that trend - granted, that is absolutely their job, but they seem to be right on it, thankfully.

Hopefully this kid and Rous know each other and the Rok has said great things about Hofstra and the program. Could go a long way to getting the kid into blue and gold.

Now that is being proactive and anticipating the coming trends. Good work by JAM and his staff.
Re: MBB Recruits 2018
Rokas would be a good advocate. He deservedly got major minutes and a lot of ink throughout his career at HU, and who would want that in the school they choose.HUSID80 wrote:Hopefully this kid and Rous know each other and the Rok has said great things about Hofstra and the program. We are in Samba Diallo's final 5, along with 4 A-10 schools.

Now we just have to land him which is most difficult part of recruiting processProudofPride wrote:We are in Samba Diallo's final 5, along with 4 A-10 schools.

his addition would make quite a stable of wing playersgaryg wrote:Now we just have to land him which is most difficult part of recruiting processProudofPride wrote:We are in Samba Diallo's final 5, along with 4 A-10 schools.

Re: MBB Recruits 2018
This is a great final 5 to be a part of, and a STUD player - legit 3-4 star player, plays strong competition, he is a very dangerous 4, aggressive, quick, athletic, hits from outside and attacks the basket. Not sure about the others, but I believe he could make a very big impact here right out of the gate - hope that is valuable to him, would be a super addition!
Re: MBB Recruits 2018
Would be a nice addition. SD plays AAU ball with Luthern players Frankie Policelli and Dontsas Kupsas - both also being recruited by HU.

Would be a great early period signing to start the class off.

In the final 11 for Jared Rhoden, lots of high majors in his list, nice group to be considered along with.

Do we have a shot at Rhoden? Perhaps. Before transferring to OSL, he played at Baldwin for Darius Burton, a former Hofstra star.
Here's what Newsday said about Rhoden last month:
Though he is excited for his second and final year at Our Saviour Lutheran — and, of course, to commit to a college — he said he still misses Baldwin in many ways.
“I miss coach [Baldwin coach Darius] Burton, for sure. That’s my man,” Rhoden said. “I miss all my friends and all that. I miss the team. I felt better because I was home and was playing for my hometown, but I had to do it for the better. At the end of the day it worked out.”

Great...now he can come home and play in front of all his friends and family at Hofstra!Jojogunne wrote:Do we have a shot at Rhoden? Perhaps. Before transferring to OSL, he played at Baldwin for Darius Burton, a former Hofstra star.

Love what Rhoden brings to the table, would be a big get and a great fit - gonna be tough though - not Kentucky or Nova, but some good programs going after him - hopefully HU being there from day 1 has helped build a great relationship
I think this seasons results could have a big impact on '18 recruiting - make major noise, and HU can position itself as a more viable option for seriously high talent - staff has done a good job landing good talent considering the lack of conference championships and NCAAT spots, but still need to elevate even higher and showing success on the court for recruits to see they can win and do big things on a national stage is huge.
As many have said, this is a big year. Year 5, and it's time to finally put a check mark next to some off the key goals and prove they can achieve here.

lol well that was quick!
On to the next
We are seeing a LOT of '18 kids committing very early, HU needs to stay very aggressive for this class - the waiting for the last minute BS isn't going to fly this time. Staff must secure talent in the EARLY period... and the sooner in that early period the better.
