I think shortly before HU joined the CAA, Mason won the CAA final over UNCW 35-33, then got a 14 seed and played an 84-80 game (or so), I think in OT, before losing to third-seeded Maryland,
Similar type of final for HU's former conference member, Georgia State today. They were up 7-3 more than halfway through the first half before taking the Sun Belt title today with a 38-36 win over Georgia Southern today.
