Very glad it's back on, kudos to both sides for making it happen. Likely going to be a tough mid major game, Monmouth still has some experience, good coaching, and some talent even sans Salnave.

Another solid test and much needed experience for the newbies. HU best start shooting the rock a whole heckuva lot better!

The odds makers think that Monmouth is a pretty good team as they're a 1 point favorite without the home court being much of an advantage. Maybe that's a reflection more on the shortcomings of HU based on our early play??

https://gohofstra.com/news/2020/12/13/m ... swing.aspx is Hofstra's preview.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/ ... 1game5.pdf is Hofstra's Game Notes. Ray has 942 points. He's on pace to reach 1,000 hosting W&M on January 2 or 3. The career-high and season-high section removed Cowart. I think he should still be listed there because it's about the past.

https://monmouthhawks.com/news/2020/12/ ... fstra.aspx is Monmouth preview titled "MEN'S HOOPS TO OPEN SEASON TUESDAY VS. HOFSTRA."

https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/ ... stra_A.pdf is Monmouth's Game Notes. Their roster has 13 players. Mike James Jr. went to Malverne High School. Their tallest player is 6-9.

http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=323961 will have statistics.

https://www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/ ... 2a6115d5ad will have video. You must log in through a TV provider that you get ESPN on. ESPN3 is streaming. Do not look for ESPN3 on TV because it's not a channel.

http://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/2020 ... mouth.html is Jerry Beach's "I'll Be Quirky: Monmouth." We started 2-2 for the third consecutive season, which is our largest streak of doing that since we did it in five consecutive seasons from 1941-1942 to 1945-1946. Farrelly is the first Hofstra coach to start his career 2-2 since Butch van Breda Kolff's second stint in 1988-1989. Against Stony Brook, we had eight players score in the first half, which was our most players who scored in the first half since eight players scored in the first half of a 94-74 win hosting Monmouth on November 9, 2019, which was our second game and first win of last season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvBHls82uiA is a 54:44 Monmouth podcast that Jerry went on that I will check after the game.

KenPom predicts us to lose 74-73, which matches the line of 1 I saw in Newsday and that Jerry Beach said. https://www.vegasinsider.com/college-ba ... las-vegas/ has a line of 1.5 and over/under of 147.5. Round both of those up makes us lose 74-73.

I'm disappointed that the starters aren't posted by 6:48 P.M. when I'm editing this post. Enjoy the game.

Masic is starting over Green.

The announcers said we haven't missed a beat without Mihalich, but I don't think fans agree.

Interesting starting lineup with Masic in... curious to the reasoning there, if it is strategic, experimental, or by necessity.

As long as you get ESPN on TV, you can log in and watch at https://www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/ ... 2a6115d5ad and if you can't watch, https://portal.stretchinternet.com/hofs ... Type=audio worked for me.

Monmouth leads 5-3. Coburn's 3 is our only points. We have 4 turnovers including 3 in 39 seconds. We have the ball.

Yep tc, poor start TO ridden start against a team that hasn't even played a game yet... HU looking like it's their first instead lol. But Coburn looking great at least, and very nice to see Ray with the steal, bucket, and foul, and knocking down a 3. More pls!!!

And Cramer providing instant spark the minute he steps on the floor - looooove this kid.

Hammond scored 11 in the first 5:25, and now he has 16 in 8 minutes. After Coburn's 2 free throws tied it at 5, Hammond made two threes, and Monmouth has led by 6 multiple times. They lead 18-13 to 12 minutes left in the half. The great news is that Monmouth committed their sixth foul, so they cannot commit any more defensive non-shooting fouls. Cramer got an offensive rebound by the basket and missed.

Nah, stay in the zone D. Just keep letting him shoot, eventually he will miss a few

I've seen some really bad defensive hofstra teams before but this is a whole new level.

I'm sure Silvario had a nice couple games to start the season, but wow i wouldnt even want this kid on the floor for my pick up league.

Ray turns the ball over dribbles off his foot and a back court violation called when they could’ve should’ve had the last shot with a five point lead. Instead Pappas hits another 3 with 3 seconds left in the half. Very poor defensive showing for us.

Yeah, bad 1st half ending there... but outside of that RAY is alive! I'll take the sloppiness tonight just to see him finally wake up - difference maker.

Up at the half, let's tighten up the D and keep the hammer down in the 2nd.
