MBB Game 12 - LIU Brooklyn - 12/28/14, 2:30 PM

Post by Jojogunne »

Will the LIU be the tonic we need to get back to winning? The Blackbirds have won four in a row after losing their first five games.

LIU Brooklyn - we certainly cant use LIU-Brooklyn's size as an excuse.

Barclays center will have video coverage for $4.99. Much less than the LIRR ticket alone!

HU should and needs to win this game handily -

Don't want to hear anything about this being some kind of great team or whatever - they have little size and even less depth - no excuses - I expect to see a team that got their butts set straight by JM and staff

New found energy and focus - lets go - ROLL PRIDE

http://www.sidearmstats.com/liubrooklyn/mbball/ will have statistics.

Edit: Bernardi has only attempted 1 shot but has a career-high 4 assists. Hofstra leads 32-18 with 5:26 left in the first half.

We lead 45-25 at the half. Thank goodness. Otherwise, I thought Polito might jump from the upper deck.

I was worried in the first 3-5 minutes - we looked like we were playing down to the level of our competition. After that we picked it up and began playinng the way we should be. Minutes 10-20 we showed very good ball movement finding the open man and then we buried the jumpers. Good to see we heated up.

We very well might have co-CAA players of the week, between Tanksley's career high 32 points, and Juan'ya Green's triple-double!

Glad we won and played OK today. One thing I don't understand is why does JAM not give Walker and Gonzalez more playing time in blowout games like this. He plays Green and Tanksley 35+ minutes and we win by 25. These are exactly the types of games where we can afford to get the freshman time on the court. You know those 2 freshmen will improve with playing time. They are both pretty talented. "E" had a drive to the basket at the end of the game and a pass just before that that show shades of "Pistol Pete". He has a real flare for Bird/Johnson/Maravich type ball handling (hard to see what BB time period I was brought up in!). He could be a real fan draw with more experience and hence likely more success. Same for Walker....why not call a play or two in the last 4 minutes and actually go down low and give him the ball. He's not up against other 6'10" guys....let him take some shots and build offensive confidence (a long 6'10' guy with a 5 foot jump hook would certainly be worth having). We were up by 20, Kone fouls out, and JAM first instinct is not to put in Walker ------I don't get it.

Hofstra won 88-62. Unless a team behind us shot three-pointers very well today, Hofstra will move back up to 2nd out of 351 teams in three-point field goal percentage at .425. Hofstra made 14 out of 27 three-pointers. Juan'ya Green had Hofstra's first triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. I listened to the last few seconds of the game and the announcers said that. Brian Bernardi scored 32. Depending on how other players did today, Green could be in the Top 10 in assists per game and Bernardi could be in the Top 25 in points per game.

Every CAA team except winless Delaware is in a group of 110 teams in the RPI. 110 is fewer than a third of the teams.

AGREED!! I've run quality (National Championship) softball teams and I always took every opportunity to give my subs ample playing time in one sided games. Just don't get it.

Evan Tanksley scored 32 not BB. He scored 12.
