my question now with NIL is how the patriot league will react
Is it true that they don’t really give out scholarships
So for conference that doesn’t give us scholarships how are they going to compete with the NIL out there?

Two that we know of. Who knows about Tomasco and some of the other fringe guys.

You almost hate to say it but you hope we have more because our two best scorers are no longer here. If we only have two scholarships left to give then those two have to replace Thomas and Dubar. They have to be immediate impact players if we're to compete for a title in this league. Otherwise we will be one of those teams on the outside looking in. I would like to see at least one more player leave which would give us a little more latitude in getting replacements for both Dubar and Thomas. There are a lot of players out there and a lot more coming into the portal.

Barrouk is in the portal (same guy who was "going to be an integral part of what HU did last year" but who was then chained to the bench and who is now gone).

I'm surprised he stayed this long. Didn't really get much of a chance. I wish him the best.

I believe 4 now. 4 guards (Carlos, Farmer, KJ, Parnell) 5 forwards (Plotnikov, Wilmoth, Sunday, 2 freshmen commits)

Regarding the discussion about JWF before, no way he stays all 4 years in today's environment, most likely only 2.

Part of that discussion was that they still need to find guys like that even if they leave early in this new NIL world. Can't put it ALL on the portal, and since JWF, that's dried up for Hofstra. They used to routinely pass the baton from one to the next with those kinds of recruits, but no more.

Feel for Barrouk. Never really got a shot. Definitely seemed like he had his share of injuries, but always felt he’d settle in to a Bernardi or best case Coburn type of role

Ditto - not sure why he stayed as long either - but did his time here and nothing but the best for him,

Best wishes to Barrouk but he was not going to play next year or make a differrence for us. Hope he finds somewhere where he can play, maybe D2.

Carlos to the portal, we’re starting from square 1.

Yup. This is it going forward now. New teams every year. No more seeing players and teams develop anymore. It's like an organized form of pickup basketball at the park now, just throwing new teams together constantly.

Doomsday scenario losing Carlos. Can't fault him, just really sucks. And answers the question what will happen once we clear all the kids with covid 5th yr eligibility... guess they'll just leave after junior yr now like Carlos just did instead
