Charleston went up 66-56 with 8:57 left and blew it. Charleston won 82-79 in overtime. Tyler Stephenson-Moore fouled out with 3.5 seconds left in overtime and got 6 minutes off out of 175. He scored 26, and his 7 threes were 1 short of the CAA Tournament record. Reyne Smith led Charleston with 23 points. He shot threes 6-15, and his 15 attempts were 1 short of the CAA Tournament record by Justin Wright-Foreman on March 4, 2018 and tied by Thomas yesterday.

ESPN had Charleston with a 13 seed.

I voted for Smith for the all-tournament team but voted for Stephenson-Moore as MOP. I felt it was clear (it's MOP, not MVP), it didn't matter that Stony Brook ultimately lost. However, the majority of voters didn't agree and gave the MOP to Smith. Tyler Thomas was also selected to the all-tourney team.

Kudos to S.B. for being tough and giving COC all they could handle. Our days of dominating them may be coming to an end.

Or not. Their six best players are graduate students and have played their last games for SBU.

Right. However, playing for a coach that just took a 7 seed in its second year in the conference to within a couple of plays of beating the repeat champion and current standard bearer for the league could help Stony Brook retool very quickly through the portal.

We're in about the same boat...we will need to completely re-tool our team with the departures of Thomas, Washington, Fritz and the expected departure of Dubar...like to see a bit of a change from Guard U as we've seen where that has gotten us over the past three years.

Guard U. also (mainly) won four years ago, but there needs to be better balance up front too.

Bottom line, it's not like there's this huge chasm between where they are and the ultimate goal. The past two years, they barely lost to the teams that barely lost to the champion. They are always right there and very much in the mix and defense is usually staple (which is great), but there is work to do roster-wise and improving coaching-wise in a couple of certain areas. Now they'll have to retool (in part) and take that next step that has been eluding them for the past three years since the title year.

Our problem is depth
Every year we say at the beginning of the year how deep the team is only to later be depleted by injury or players not living up to their hype
C of C keeps bringing players off the bench that contribute and wears other teams down
We need to take a page from their blueprint

No question the games I saw against COC they had a lot of depth a revolving door of quality players and I agree Stu wearing down the opposing team.

We need to improve our rebounding...seems we're outrebounding by every team we play...Speedy needs to construct a roster with some depth and more toughness, a team that can WIN the damned CAA championship...right now we're short on the right pieces EVERYWHERE. We hopefully return Carlos, Plotnikov and who else as starters?

Hard to find one or two good players in the portal, let alone six.

Plotnikov faded down the stretch. He may be better as a sixth man.

Stony Brook shot threes 15-35, and Charleston shot them 13-30. FloHoops says the 28 threes were the most combined in a CAA Tournament game, but they did not give the old record or date.

Again, usage, just like with Dubar. He's normally very efficient when given the opportunity. But down the stretch, there were a lot of two-shot games for him. They put way too much on Thomas sometimes, and at the worst time (in the semis) instead of being a TEAM (like in the quarters and several regular season games when they were at their best).

Ideally, yes. But it's not a must to win. See 2020.
