Especially in today's game, when FTA are so much lower than they used to be while everyone's jacking up 3s.
I checked the free throws attempted per team per game in the NCAA Guide. It was over 20 for every season from 1976-1977 through 2011-2012. It had a record low of 17.53 in 2021-2022, and was 18.12 in 2022-2023. It is 19.32 this season.

Charleston has the tiebreaker over Drexel. So Drexel will need to win both this week and then get two Charleston losses and one uncw loss to get sole possessing of first. That could very possibly happen by the end of next Saturday's games.
I was looking at a bunch of tiebreakers including three-way ties, and I got that tiebreaker wrong. Drexel has Saturday off and plays at Delaware on Monday February 26 on CBS Sports Network, and UNCW plays at Campbell in the second game of the February 26 doubleheader, so after Saturday, Charleston will have played three more games, and Drexel and UNCW will have played one more game.

Too bad they mispronounced as ja-QUAN instead of JA-quan, but great recognition nonetheless:

I wasn't criticizing, you did a great job parsing all of that.

It was billed as the biggest high school basketball event in the history of Long Island on Friday.

Friday featured the nation's two best teams, Long Island Lutheran vs. Montverde, which played another team from SC after the Hofstra game yesterday. LI Lutheran played #5 Brewster Academy (MA) afterwards. Jaylen Brown wore a Brewster jersey in tribute to the late former Kentucky star Terrence Clarke in last night's NBA slam dunk contest.

Montverde crushed LI Lutheran, 90-58, on Friday with the nation's top prospect, Cooper Flagg (headed to Duke) leading Montverde. That's always one of the top programs, like Oak Hill, etc. I can only imagine how good Montverde is this year if they beat #2 that bad.
I wish I would have known about these games ahead of time. Would have liked to have seen Cooper Flagg, the Pride of Newport, Maine. :)

Bob is another MBB alum who had a very distinguished post-collegiate career. He coached at Holy Trinity HS and LI Lutheran before becoming HC at Davidson, where he posted a 634–380 (.625) W-L record and a 1.000 graduation record for his players over 33 years. He will probably be best remembered for recruiting Steph Curry.

Yeah, same. I don't know why there wasn't more buzz about it but a lot of people definitely knew somehow. Friday's games were sold out with the normally-closed sections opened up to hold the arena capacity of 5,023. I think a lot of us here knew about McKillop's ties to Hofstra as a player, as a LI Lutheran and Davidson coach but I didn't know about the perfect graduation rate - that's great too!

McKillop gets the credit for landing Curry, but a lot of the legwork was done by his assistant, Jim Fox, brother of Hofstra walk-on Jeff Fox. The Fox's are products of Levittown's St. Bernard CYO. Their father, Jim Sr., coached my brother in baseball and basketball, back in the day.

Can't believe that Jaquan, who set a CAA league record with 19 assists in one game, did not at least share the POW award:

I think that's more than fair since it's Player of the WEEK, not just one game. Mackinnon had two big games to lead two big upsets (including one on the road) for Elon. Carlos didn't do much at Drexel.

EvanJ wrote: Sat Feb 17, 2024 11:00 pm Charleston now leads the CAA standings, and they need to win hosting William & Mary to keep the lead. A Charleston loss would make a three-way tie, with UNCW 3-1, Charleston 1-2, and Drexel 1-2 against the other two. William & Mary will stay in 13th.

1. Charleston: 10-3
2. UNCW: 10-4 (split with Drexel, 2-0 vs. Charleston, Drexel is 0-1 vs. Charleston)
3. Drexel: 10-4
4. Hofstra: 9-5 (1-0 vs. Delaware and 1-0 vs. Towson)
5. Towson: 9-5 (1-1 vs. Delaware, record vs. Charleston cannot be a tiebreaker because Delaware has not played Charleston yet, 1-0 vs. UNCW, 1-0 vs. Drexel)
6. Delaware: 9-5 (0-1 vs. UNCW and 0-1 vs. Drexel)
7. Monmouth: 8-6
8. Stony Brook: 7-7
9. Campbell: 6-8
10. Elon: 5-9 (0-1 vs. Northeastern and 2-0 vs. North Carolina A&T adds to 2-1)
11. Northeastern: 5-9 (1-0 vs. Northeastern and 0-1 vs. North Carolina A&T adds to 1-1)
12. North Carolina A&T: 5-9 (0-2 vs. Elon and 1-0 vs. Northeastern adds to 1-2)
13. William & Mary: 3-10
14. Hampton: 1-13
25-20, W&M at the U4 on CBS Sports Network now. Charleston barely won the first meeting, 84-83. An upset tonight could really tighten things up at the top.

Evan quote; https://gohofstra.com/boxscore.aspx?pat ... l&id=12796 is the box score. The bench played 48 minutes. Griffin Barrouk played in 9 of the first 12 games, then did not play in the 14 games before today. He assisted on our last score. The attendance was 2,122, which is not good for a weekend against another northern team.

I know I've meant to bring this up for discussion but my feeling is that Barrouk was hurt at some point I believe the reason he missed games. Does anyone else know anything about his absence for a lot of the season. Like most unanswered questions they remain unanswered! But mysteriously he is put into the game in garbage time of a blowout!

A few weeks ago (when BarrouK was wearing warmups at games), he had some type of "cast" on his hand/wrist. Looked to me like some type of thumb injury.
