NCAA Banner for 2019-2020

So as I was sitting in the Mack the other day behind the women's basketball bench I was looking up at the banners obviously seeing our NIT and old NCAA banners hanging there. I got particularly perturbed thinking about the banner that should rightfully be hanging there for our achievements in the 2019-2020 NCAA year that was not played(tourney). I have stated this before here and double down on it now we rightfully earned a trip to the tourney that year and get annoyed when people say we haven't made the tournament in X number of years. This is disingenuous and our achievements should be represented in the Mack hanging with the other banners. Regardless of whether we played or not thru no doing of our own we deserve that recognition. The actual playing of the game IMO is immaterial. I know some people have agreed with me here I wonder if a grass roots kind of movement here would get that banner up in the Mack. This crap just infuriates me I wonder what others here think. Please weigh in!!

tc agree with you 100%. I hate that it didn’t happen, and the perception of our continued drought sucks, but HU absolutely qualified and was ready to dance. That achievement absolutely should be recognized in our arena.

Why on earth isn’t there a banner there?? Is that on HU?? Do they require some kind of approval or something? I have no clue how it works but it should be addressed.

Totally agree guys...I will bring that up with Cole next time I see him...that team and coaching staff should be honored when they put it up as well.

Just sent an e-mail to Rick Cole and hope that he embraces this and can/WILL take action on it.

A banner should absolutely be up there for that accomplishment. JWF's number should be up there as well.

The problem with both - and this shouldn't keep them from doing both - is that we're already so far removed from both that is unfortunately takes away from honoring both. These things need to be done in a timely way (which, of course, is the point of this thread to begin with).

I think they should even hang banners for each of the CAA regular season titles as well.

Hear you on the timing, but frankly it wouldn't really take anything away IMO - the longer this goes on the worse it is - they need to rectify this THIS season.

The other important point to make here is that this season was Coach Mihalich's last season so they should tie in a tribute to Coach Mihalich along with this NCAA banner. He has left a legacy here that integrity in sports should be first and foremost.

They had Joe Mihalich Day two seasons ago, in January, 2022. They did a great job with that. But since it's been nearly two years since then, even more reason that raising a banner for the team he took to a CAA tourney title is long overdue.

Yes they had a tribute for him but was any banners put up which could be tied to that NCAA season which of course had the historical win for us beating UCLA. It was such a memorable year until they let COVID ruin it. We need a tribute to the players and coaches that made that a special year.

I believe I heard they wouldn't' be allowed by the NCAA to put up any banner for the NCAA tournament since the tournament never happened. At the end of the day its just a banner; nothing can take away the season.

I hate the word NCAA it's a joke organization but Rick has reached out to me to discuss this and I'm hoping we can discuss it soon. This denial if it's true would really piss me off and I'm too OLD too get pissed off. The kids had a remarkable season and accomplished something that hadn't been done in a long time deserve to be recognized. Also that being the last year for Coach Mihalich is even more reason to pay tribute to the accomplishments with something in the MACK. To be continued!

We should be free to put up any banner we want in our building. We won the CAA and with it an automatic berth in the Tournament...we did not cancel the Tournament the NCAA did...we qualified fair and square...TIME TO PUT UP THAT BANNER!

I cant see how the NCAA doesnt make their own banner honor all those teams that qualified that year
