As far as Parnell he has to be either injured or being redshirted or we would have seen him on the court by now??

I guess we can throw these out so far - according to KenPom, there were already two huge upsets in this tournament.
7 beat 3 by 14 and 6 beat 1 by nine.

http://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/2023 ... ffalo.html is Jerry Beach's "I'll Be Quirky: Hofstra vs. Buffalo."

https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=494645 should have statistics, but under half an hour before the game, it doesn't have anything other than ads. As I was typing, it changed to "Starters will be posted shortly..."

Edit: https://www.flohoops.com/live/80561 has video. The starters still are not posted.

Wright State (157) is the first higher-rated team to win in this tournament, beating Louisiana (171), 91-85.

Buffalo barely able to hang with Dubar thus far, let alone Hofstra. 36-19, Pride. Dubar has 19 pts on 7/9 shooting (4/6 from 3).

Hofstra getting called for a lot of fouls. Buffalo is 12/14 from the line despite trailing by 14.

Carlos, Robinson, and Sunday have 2 PF each.

This looks like the St. Joseph's game. Amazing how much this Buffalo program has fallen in recent years since Hurley and Oates.

57-24, Pride. 50-12, Hofstra from the floor.

We came to play in this one up 59-26 at the half. Dubar has 21 in the first half nothing much went wrong for us so far.

Robinson getting a fair amount of playing time in the first half as Carlos picked up 2 fouls. Fritz looking a lot better in this game really in the flow of things. One thing about Robinson he loves to shoot. Throwing up long threes

We went on a 19-0 run to go from 36-22 to 55-22, and each team scored 4 after that. Dubar shot 8-11 including threes 4-7 and shot free throws 1-1 to score 21. Thomas shot 6-11 including threes 3-6 to score 15. Washington scored 7, Robinson scored 6, Fritz scored 5 without missing, Carlos scored 3, Plotnikov scored 2, and Barrouk and Sunday did not shoot. Fritz led all players with 5 rebounds, and is on pace for a double-double. We have five players with at least 2 assists. Thomas has 4, Dubar has 3, and Robinson, Carlos, and Fritz have 2. We had 14 assists and 4 turnovers. Buffalo had 2 assists and 11 turnovers. The bench played 20 minutes, and only six players played more than 5 minutes. We shot twos .786, threes .500, and free throws .875. Ryan Sabol and Kanye Jones tied for Buffalo's lead with 6 points.

Yeah like playing a non D1 team. I can see why we are big favorites in this game.

That's more like it, much better from this team - nice W to get the positive going - UB is really bad right now, but HU can't control that, they dominated a team they should. That's the effort and performance expected, especially from Dubar. Like that this team got some solid burn for the full bench. Staff is definitely playing all this OOC, and that will only help down the road.

Top seeds are out, HU can win this thing. Wright State will be a bit better, so HU needs to show some consistency these next 2 games. ROLL PRIDE

With Long Beach State out, HU is the highest-rated remaining team. So, they "should" win this tourney. Back that up with two more strong performances and take some momentum back to Hempstead, truly turning the page on the Princeton and GW losses.

So that's more like it! Team showed energy and cleaned up some of their issues...was disappointed in Sunday, he looked slow and out of sync, and Carlos seems to be feeling more pressure to score...he should just play his game. Liked how Thomas did not force shots, got good ones in the flow of the offense.
Come on guys lets take this tourney!

Was a welcome surprise to get a free stream for this game. Definitely liked what we see; clearly a more talented team than Buffalo. Felt we took some stupid fouls which hopefully doesn't carryover to today. Other than that not sure what you can complain about. Got the bench players some burn. The 5 is definitely our weakest position but the past few years our big man has shown the most improvement from early to mid season; hopefully that trend continues this year.

Wow, with 30 points, Dubar showed us what he can really do last night. In some ways, he and not Tyler (21 points) has replaced Estrada in our lineup. Dubar can take the ball to the hoop while Tyler is more of a catch-and-shoot threat, although I think TT has the potential to drive and score or pick up fouls. They are a two-headed monster. Meanwhile, Carlos and Robinson combined for 21 points from the PG spot, and Washington and Farmer added 17 points from the SG position. Not a bad night's work.

I think that's been my biggest takeaway from the first couple games... Hofstra might be at their best this year with Dubar as the 1a and Tyler as the 1b. I think we've all believed Dubar had limitless potential considering his size/athletic combo for this level, hopefully he's finally starting to consistently reach it.

But man Buffalo has fallen on some real hard times, tonight's game should prove much more of a test.

It's going to be that way as long as Dubar is the more aggressive offensive player. Thomas has been efficient (44.8% fg, 42.5% from 3), but no FTA in three of HU's four games. The more he attacks and welcomes contact, the more it'll open up the perimeter shots he likes to take.

Lets not get too carried away with Dubar yes he had a great game but he has a history of being a Jekyll and Hyde type player. If he's consistent and we get scoring from Robinson we could be a long way towards solving our O shortcomings. Liked what I saw in Fritz this game but Buffalo is so bad this wasn't a great test for this team. Tonite should be more indicative on how well we're playing.
