Couldn’t make it today, but listened to Jacco for the first half. I think he’s doing very well - adding some great commentary imo.

Ladies keeping it close. Ineza looks confident driving the to hoop and shooting well. 5-5 I believe in the 1st half.

A game of two halves as most basketball games are. Too painful to go into too much detail but what stood out to me other then the ridiculous amount of turnovers most live ball dealing with a full court press(Hofstra nightmare) was the poor D on three point shooters. Delaware had one after another open three from the corner which I'm blaming on the coaching. This has gone on the entire season and clearly I don't want to hear in the post presser that we have to clean it up. The time for cleaning things up IMO has long passed. It could be the time to clean up the coaching staff as this team I believe is better then their record indicates but makes the same mistakes game in and out. Not to pick on her but I will even though she had good stats 5 rebounds 6 assists and only 1 turnover and no points also fouled out. Ally Knights couldn't guard #4 on Delaware as she kept blowing past her scoring or causing other players to pick up needless fouls. IDK why we couldn't have made switches from this D nightmare. We lose again to one of the worst teams in the CAA which would indicate that we may be the worst team in this league in terms of our record. After being down by 1 at the half we lose 82-59 just totally unacceptable turning it over 23X. Emma with 19 points Ineza with 16 Anya 14 and Swint 6. After that not much to talk about. The way we score or don't we will never win a game where we give up 82 points.

We do have last place to ourselves 1-8
Time just to play out the season and make the assessment after the season is over

Stu as you well know I'm a big fan of this program but also a tough critic just telling it the way that it is. Santos-Atkinson a very nice lady has thrown her hands up in the air it seems and really doesn't have much wind in her sails. She clearly thought this team would have performed better and she wasn't alone but yet their problems stem from their inability to take care of the ball and lack of offense. They have rebounded well for the most part and played better D BUT GIVING the opposition too many points off of turnovers has been their demise. The question remains what happens to the coaching staff moving forward IF ANYTHING??

So this may be the reason to still have hope in this program moving forward?? https://gohofstra.com/news/2023/11/9/wo ... ntent.aspx

these High school accomplishments are fine but the real question is how these players transition to playing D1 ball
Our guards are not athletic and small overall
Bigger guards will shoot over them and quicker guard will get by them an attack the basket on offense
Also will harrass them into bad turnovers

We play Towson on the road today who's coming off a victory against the #1 team in this conference Stony Brook.

We start slow today turning the ball over etc losing 8-0 but come back on the strength of our bench. Down 29-28 at the half after leading for a lot of this game. Good play by Ineza with 7 points and Onna Brown, Carter and Bryant who really has been impressive lately off the bench. Coach is groping for straws now.

Very nice (and needed!) 14 point win today. Got a lead in the 4th and held on this time on the road. Held Towson to 44 points.

Tc - as you mentioned Coach Santos mixing and matching today giving more minutes to Carter, Brown, and Bryant. Seems to be working and offense has some flow. Nice off ball movement led to some easy buckets.

Ineza led the team with 13, followed by a career high 11 from Carter. Anya had 10 as did Swint (a double double along with 11 boards). Hopefully this will build the team confidence

Amazing this game of basketball. We beat Towson today 58-44 on the road. Towson had just beaten Stony Brook on Friday the #1 team in the conference. Coack Atkinson looking to pull a rabbit out of her hat apparently got lucky playing her bench and getting good results. Kudos to Ineza who has been a Jeckyl/Hyde player all year leads the pride with 13 points followed by 10 each for Swint(11 rebounds) and Anya who had 7 rebounds. Nice game for Carter who had 11 points points playing 29 minutes only 1 turnover. Bryant with 6 rebounds and 5 points Onna Brown with 5 points played tough D as well. Both Emma and Ally played reduced minutes. Emma scoring 4 0n 1-3 shooting played 19 minutes and Knights no points playing 14 minutes had 5 rebounds. Maybe Coach Atkinson has found a combo of players that can click together. We shall see. Great win after losing quite a few close games.

Close posts Pride just finished watching the replay!! Hard to believe that Emma only played a few moments in the 4th quarter this speaks volumes on how well the bench played in this game. I like what I see with Bryant, Carter and Onna Brown. They should have been playing more all season it looks like.

Agreed. I was hoping to see more of Brown and Bryant had been playing well as of late.

If you would tell me we’d beat Towson by 14 there is no way I’d believe that they did it with Von Essen scoring 4 points on 1-3 shooting (1-1 from 3??)

So we play Stony Brook tonight away after losing to them by 18 at home. I wonder after we beat Towson by 18 can we carry that over and make it close tonight or even win. It will be interesting to see what roster adjustments coach Atkinson implements against SB. Onna Brown looked good as did Carter at PG who gives us a real scoring option over Knight. Also like Bryant who has been impressive as a kid who has a vertical leap.

At the game… great shooting 1st Q with minimal TOs. The exact opposite in the 2nd.

Hopefully Coach can preach that they can play with them and focus back on what they did right in the 1st - value the basketball and play smart. Stop telegraphing passes and making mental mistakes. Going to be be tough to dig out from 10 points, but they have a shot if they can cut down on the TOs and move the ball better. Their off ball movement was great against Towson - need more of that.

Ugly loss and a second half collapse. It's obvious that Coach Atkinson is desperate not afraid to bench Emma back to back games after the D just smothers her. Nobody standing out in this game Swint with 11, Sorelle with 10, Anya 9, Emma 7(all first half). They scored 30 points off of our 23 turnovers. They also had 23 turnovers but we only scored 18 off of theirs. Sad showing.

Well much better game against Northeastern today matching the 20 point win the men had yesterday. Took a huge 1st quarter lead (27-5) and coasted from there.

Emma shot very well today and lead the team with 22 points. Anya and Ineza had 13 each but Brook was much more efficient. Knights had 7 boards and 5 assists - the 7 rebounds tied for the team lead (with Bryant). Also as a team went 12-13 from the FT line.

Defense was much better today as was the ball movement and off ball movement - 16 assists on 24 baskets.

Won the turnover battle and we only had 11 which is a huge improvement. Overall a nice win.

NE only had 7 players though. Not sure what happened there.

Thanks for the tix triple C
Was able to attend the game with triple C
Those 11 turnovers is more impressive as about 6 of them happened after we emptied the bench with about 4 minutes left.
I think we made all but 2 shots in the first quarter.
We looked like an upper tier CAA team in this game
Nothing to complain about in this game. NU never made a run as quick timeouts and adjustments made by the coaching staff

Thanks Stu it was nice catching up a bit. Arguably our best win of the year even better then the UNCW win in the first CAA game for us 82-54. We turned the ball over 25X in that game but had 55 rebounds, incredible. I thought this was a very efficiently played game for us. We had 40 rebounds to their 24 and scored 20 points off turnovers. As Pride already mentioned big game for Emma who took her game inside the arc to shoot 5-5 and 4-8 from three. She's tweaking her game and learning to capitalize on what the D gives her. Nice game from Sorelle who consistently got fouled and hit 7-7 from the foul line. Brooke Anya a force to be reckoned with down low. Slowly becoming and important piece of the puzzle is Bryant who can leap, rebound and score when needed getting 20 minutes contributing 7 rebounds and 4 assists and 1 block.

So maybe just maybe this team will start to gel just at the right time of the year. We have been known as the upset team come conference tourney time. Fingers crossed!!

Not sure what to say after that debacle. Charleston is good for sure.

We were out of the game in the first few minutes. I may have to look at the box score to see if I can find any positives, but watching it I can’t think of any. Pretty much a no show.

Only saw parts of this game but when I finally got to turn it on we were down 23-7 I believe. I knew they were good but that's pretty lopsided. Really to sum up this game they out rebounded us 42-26, scored 32 points off of our 22 turnovers and hit 11-22 three's. They also hit 17-18 Free throws. This is a very good team. Emma scored 11 points playing 21 minutes, Sorelle scores 15 playing 31 minutes. They both turn the ball over 4x each. Brooke Anya with 8 points and 7 rebounds in 26 minutes. Just a beatdown from a better team!!
