The goal was from a pass that was a free kick near the corner.

Seems like a solid start. How good is this team projected to be? Top 25 is loaded with mid majors, any chance HU can break in this season?

I'm not sure how their schedules usually go, but this one seems pretty weak for a traditionally strong mid major program. The only opp to make any national noise is at UVA in a few weeks. No JMU in the CAA also hurts, this conf seems pretty soft comparatively... They are going to need to do a better job in the OOC scheduling going forward IMO.

Not quite as good a schedule as in past but still solid overall. Here is article I wrote on team where Coach Nuttall made very clear that the bar has been raised big time. https://www.liherald.com/stories/hofstr ... ore,191605?

Great stuff HP1, appreciate it. Agree on the bar. I know he's a top flight coach, certainly knows what he's doing - just seems like HU should be playing more of a national schedule at this point. HU soccer programs are repeatedly ranked, would like to raise the SOS to match.

Same! In past have played Maryland and Penn State which make senses geographically. We have never played Rutgers since I have been following program but am sure it isn’t lack of trying. We have played St. John’s a few times but always at there place as from what I have heard they refuse to play here.

So what's the general feeling about yesterdays tie with S.B. We were picked for first and S.B. picked last!! Certainly appears to be a disappointing outcome to this game.

Very disappointing on a number of levels as we had nearly 17 minutes on a man advantage and weren’t able to convert, although the disallowed goal was a questionable call I felt as goalie did not appear to corral it clearly when we took it from him. Stony Brook beat us in CAA opener last year though and look what happened so I’m not super concerned.

Like that analogy but always want to beat S.B. in all sports including tiddly winks! Lol I want to see wins in every sport against them maybe evn women's basketball where we appear to have a decent roster.

Same for me! Only one where it is likely unrealistic is women’s lacrosse, although I do think we will have a much better team this coming season assuming Nikki Mennela is back healthy.

Yeah IDK anything about lacrosse but a big loss last year Mennela and we could be very competitive this year.

We beat UMBC last night 2-0. We're 4-1-1 and they're 3-1-1. Goals by Goldthorp and Carmichael. What else is new.

We came back twice to get a 2-2 draw at Campbell in the first game between the teams. Defender Shane Salmon ran back to clear the ball before the goal line, which allowed Eliot Goldthorp's second goal tie the game with 44 seconds left.

Campbell came in with a win and three ties I wonder for you soccer guys whether this is a disappointing game for us. We were probably favored to win and had to play from behind to just get a tie which is clearly far better then a loss.

We beat LIU 3-0 last night with goals from Goldthorp, Carmichael and Baker. We're 5-1-2 now and ranked 24th in the latest coaches poll. Nice work!!

I didn't even think about checking polls.

We won 2-1 hosting William & Mary, who fell to 2-6-1, so winning by 1 was not impressive. Ryan Carmichael scored both goals. His first goal came from goalkeepers Wessel Speel's first career assist. William & Mary tied it, and Carmichael scored the winner with 3:28 left. The next game is hosting Binghamton on Tuesday.
