This year the NCAA allowed scrimmages open to the public for charity....that's what happened with St. John's vs Rutgers.

I caught the tail end of a segment on Optimum News 12 about our men's team. Could not find a link to share.

Finally, an article about Hofstra MBB in Newsday. It focuses mostly on Carlos, who says that he chose Hofstra over Oklahoma State, Pitt, Fordham, and (sorry Polito) Virginia Tech:

Haha all good Jojo, I'll take that "L" anytime. In either direction! (VT also hit triple digits, 100 in a lopsided W over Coppin St. Their women's team also won and is once again top 10 projected to be ACC champs.)

Good day all around, hoping for a big HU W in the first 'real' game on Friday...

Stony Brook didn't embarrass themselves and they covered the -18.5, but SJU was in control the whole way - up 41-30 at the half, won 90-74.

The game started out close, but SJU pulled ahead quickly. Jordan Dingle, Daniss Jenkins, Chris Ledlum, and Joel Soriano stood out for the Red Storm.

Dean Knoll, the Cornell transfer who was injured last year, had a nice game for the Seahawks.

SBU hosts St. Joseph's (LI) Friday night on SNY.

Thinking about UNCW so soon? I know you meant Seawolves. :)

Another pointless matchup. The worst of these that I've seen so far was St. Mary's 107-28 win over Stanislaus State. Amazingly, winning by nearly 100, the Gaels didn't win wire to wire (they trailed, 3-2 before finishing the half on a 48-8 run).

Yeah these games are kinda silly frankly. But I'll say with HU's SOS I'm ok with that first game practice. They are about to run through a gauntlet.

Sometimes, if the water's cold, it's better to ease in slowly and let your body adjust before swimming a long way.

UNLV opened by lossing 85-71 hosting Southern, who was coming from losing by 33 at TCU, and was 276th in the NET last season. Southern went on a 16-0 run, and led by 26.

Is anyone planning on going to the UNLV game? I just booked a trip out to Vegas for it and trying to figure out which section I should buy tickets in.

Enjoy the games against Delaware this year and next year, because that'll be it for the Hofstra's biggest rivalry. HU has played Delaware the most (101 times, followed by Drexel (97 times). The Blue Hens are going to Conference USA in two years. Sad to see.

I have tix for the Duke game at Cameron....anyone else going down?

How much did tickets cost? Duke isn't at the very top in attendance because Cameron doesn't hold as many people as other elite teams' arenas, so that makes tickets harder to get. I once a story about people having to be on line including sleeping outside for two nights in order to get tickets.

Tickets were tough to get but Hofstra came through with two for $150 each. Cameron is on my bucket list so I was happy to pay for them. The school was only allotted 70 total tickets!

One lucky Hofstra fan won two tickets to the Duke game the night our season tickets were given out. I think airfare might have been included as well. He was pretty excited.
