To Wags, The only logical guess I have to the reason the SBU game is on a Monday Night is TV. Wasn't some SBU games on SNY last season? HU also has an agreement with MSG this year. This is a possible reason for the Monday night schedule. Also, if you look at the complete CAA MBB schedule, there are a few games across the league scheduled on a Monday. Maybe this is a CBS Sports TV (the network for the CAA Championship in the past) deal to put on a few CAA games this season.

I think you're right, TV is probably it. The schedule on the Hofstra site didn't show that (at least not yet) and I didn't bother to look elsewhere. That creates a better stretch for the team with a few days of rest in between each game. After a road trip on 1/11 and 1/13, they can stay in the local area for six straight games with the Monday game helping to spread out the games better for the first half of that six-game stretch. That seems like a key six-game stretch to get some good momentum going during the season:

Thu 1/18 - home vs. Hampton
Mon 1/22 - at Stony Brook
Thu 1/25 - home vs. W&M
Sat 1/27 - at Monmouth
Thu 2/1 - home vs. Stony Brook
Sat 2/3 - hone vs. Towson

According to the schedule on the Hofstra website, there is a game listed against St.Joseph's of LI on Monday, November 6th at 11:30am. My guess is this is one of those invite school groups to the Mack Arena. This occurred a few seasons back when there was a game before Thanksgiving against Molloy. I wonder if this St.Joe's game is considered an exhibition.

So I'm just seeing this on gohofstra we're playing a Monday DAY GAME at 11:30 on 11/6 vs St Joseph's of L.I. This is bizarre crazy bizarre. They're calling it "Class at the Court"??? Like a scrimmage game I guess but one that counts?? St Joes is D3 correct?? https://gohofstra.com/news/2023/9/29/me ... bvPvjnbsqc

Yes triple, they are D3 and play in the conf with SUNY Farmingdale. Thier "bigs" are a guy at 6'7", and one at 6'6". Everyone else on the roster is 6'5" and under.

There is also the Norfolk State home game listed for Saturday, December 16th which is not in the "Class at the Court" announcement.

I was there HUSID and I remember it well. While the game itself was no contest, the game experience was actually kinda fun.

Maybe HU should give away unsold tix to local high schools and fill the stands! ;)

Agree with this a lot of energy at the Mack. Plenty of noise and excitement.

FYI - I contacted the HU tix office to see if tickets for the StJ game at UBS will be included in the seasons tix package (like the UMass game at Barclays last season). The response I got was tix for this game will NOT be included. You must purchase them on your own. :o :( I am bummed out and thought that we would be thrown a bone and get at least nose bleed seats for this game. Not Happy!!

The MBB schedule looks to be complete:

https://gohofstra.com/sports/mens-baske ... le/2023-24

All but three games (@GMU, @Iona and @Saint Louis) will be available on TV or FloHoops. Even the Nov. 6 morning tune-up vs. St. Joseph's will be on FloHoops.

They're mentioning this game now on gohofstra. Apparently Norfolk State who we've played a few times had a good year last year.

This surprises me like you say Cards I wonder why we aren't being thrown a bone on this one. I'm going to inquire about this game with Carla and see what the answer is.

OK so Carla said that this is technically a St John's home game therefore we don't have anything to do with the tickets. This sounds very plausible.

We are playing 4 home, 4 neutral (counting St. John's), and 4 away games. We are playing 12 nonconference games instead of the usual 13. By playing 12 nonconference games, we can reach points in the season like 1/3rd, 1/2th, and 4/5th that will be after a whole number of games. The usual 31 games (13 nonconference and 18 CAA) did not allow that because 31 is a prime number. Before the CAA Tournament, 60 percent of our games will be CAA games.
