If my memory serves me well we lost to CW post in the 70's when we had our NCAA team with Laurel, Irving, Rood, Kammerer etc. It was hard to swallow back then us losing to them considering the talent on that team.
Remember that CW Post is now the D1 LIU Sharks (combo of D1 LIU Blackbirds and D2 CW Post Pioneers [ CW Post had always been the Long Island campus of LIU]). So teams like basketball play at the Brooklyn campus, while football and others play at the old CW Post campus in Brookville.
Thanks for reminding me kind of forgot about that.

Really have no interest whatsoever to see HU put any D2's or D3's on the schedule. There's no benefit to it for HU. Play them in scrimmages to help both groups tune things up.

I am very happy with the way the schedules are shaping up under this staff: healthy SOS, ranked team or two, nice names, good matchups, solid mids, etc - keep that going.

Side note, I would really like to see HU evolve to putting together and hosting a tournament one day similar to Charleston Classic - would be wise to team up with a media partner, maybe MSG / SNY / etc to get it funded and televised, and align with an important effort or charity for positive impact and goodwill. NY market, this would be attractive for many programs and could be a great weekend event, in addition to financial boost if done well.

Amen! And I'll add that when any D-1 team plays a non-D1 team, it should be counted as an exhibition game. Those wins kind of falsely inflate the season and program win totals, even though many D-I teams do it and I don't think they're changing how they record those games anytime soon, but just my opinion.

Great OOC schedule (especially the second half of it).

So Princeton, South Florida, and Hampton are the only home games. Makes me think that the StJ game (at UBS) will be considered by HU ticket office as a home game. Do others think tix will be included in the seasons tix package for the StJ game??

I understand that playing good competition in OOC is most important, but (as Polito has said) HU needs to find a way to get some good teams to show up at the Mack.

We played them once when Rollie was their HC and Jay was an assistant. It was late December of either '91 or '92. (we didn't fare too well)

Thanks for the info. Joey I do vaguely remember Massimino not faring real well out there. Tarkanian set the standard and that was hard to equal.

Looked up from gohofstra and it shows we played U of Nevada in 92-93 and lost 79-41 also lost to Villanova that year 92-54. We were 8-18 that year not a very good team.

Go Hofstra has the opponent wrong. We played UNLV, not Nevada. BigE and I went to the game, then hung around to spend New Year's in Vegas. That was their first year post-Tark and they were still a top 25 team. Star of that team was Isaiah (JR) Rider. Our best player was Demetrius Dudley. This was during those couple of years where the ECC was essentially done, and we were pretty much playing an independent schedule before joining the NAC (A-10)

That's a real deja-vu that you mentioned Dudley saw a lot of him during those years. I believe he had a 40 point game in the PFC unfortunately the team wasn't that good. Probably plenty of inaccuracies on gohofstra but also a lot of archive stuff that's interesting.

Old Westbury (which is really just a scrimmage)
UMass at the Barclays. Last year, tix for this game were part of the season tix package. Im kind of expecting (hoping) StJ at UBS to be included in the tix package this year.

Great scoop, another solid add to the OOC! Really dig how willing the staff is to have a respectable SOS, and very pleased with their ability to actually make it happen. Cool historical connection for this one too, which is cool.

Don’t know much yet about this years runnin rebels but looking forward to learning about this matchup.

The conference schedule was released today.... Hofstra better take care of business early cause that's a brutal road trip to end the regular season: at UNCW and at Charleston

I do like starting with Charleston at home, but an early Jan weeknight might be pretty bad for fan turnout. Hofstra should be able to get off to a decent start though, Jan slate isn't all that daunting on paper after the Charleston opener

I wonder why the game at Stony Brook is on Monday instead of Saturday. That's not MLK Day, which is the Monday before.

We'll have to see what kind of team Hofstra is and how the league is this year, but based on September expectations, the conference schedule doesn't seem bad at all outside of a challenging start (Charleston & Delaware at home) and the end you mentioned (the trip to UNCW and Charleston). There will be surprises, both good and bad, as with every season, but as we sit here it September, everything else in between all seems very winnable and a very challenging pre-conference OOC slate should have them ready for all of the CAA schedule.
