Aaron Estrada wins the Haggerty Award for the best college basketball player in the NY area. Wonder if he was on hand to personally receive it.
Amazingly since 2000, Hofstra has won more of these awards than any other area school including St. John's and Seton Hall. The highlight being Charles Jenkins' three consecutive awards.

Also Tyler Thomas was named All-Met second team.

Congratulations to both Aaron and Tyler!

Saying the obvious but Estrada was a great player for Hofstra. Double teamed, game planned against and made everyone around him a better player. Thank you for your time here. At Alabama if covered one on one watch out SEC. Good luck Aaron and congratulations on the Haggerty Award.

Quinerly leaving Alabama, lots of room for Estrada to be the main guy there

So that would certainly not be ideal lol.

But I'm not really buying it being worth it for him. TT is going to be HUGE for HU, but he'll be a bench player at best for Alabama. They are not going to play them in constant tandem like HU did - zero chance. He'll be an added backup piece on a roster full of other talent. Hopefully he has the right folks in his camp guiding him properly. If he wants to go big time, he should rise to stardom this year taking the reins at HU, lead them to the dance, and then have lots of opps to get paid like AE. Maybe even better.

As far as AE, the Quinerly news makes things even more interesting - the opportunity will be there. I am already a 'Bama fan, but will be watching them more intently this year! I hope that kid becomes a national superstar there - the trickle down effect for HU recruiting will be significant, and will make for organic marketing the staff can't buy.

Let's hope he works his tail off to overcome the fall off he had the last 2 months of the season and rights his ship to shine on the SEC stage - succeed there, and he's going to have a lot of doors open.
