Tom is in a winnable conference with a winning team. They just have to figure out Niagara (OT win in Dec, 12-point loss yesterday). I wouldn't be surprised to see them get to the NCAAT before we do.

FYI, Quinnipiac's next game, vs. Fairfield, was flexed to ESPNU this coming Friday at 9 pm.

Been wondering about this during this season, if after his bad Fordham years and his long hiatus from being a head coach, if he would reach the NCAAT before HU does now. Hope they can both make ith this year.

Then again, maybe not so fast.

After starting 11-1 in the MAAC, Quinnipiac is 0-4 since Feb. 10 and 0-2 since Pecora's extension nine days later.

Happy for TP - no real lingering issue with him, been a long time and he did what he felt best for his family and career.

And yeah I'd pump the breaks on QU making the dance anytime soon just because TP is now the HC. Not that kind of program, and he's been a lead assistant for years, not like wholesale changes are coming. Let's see - hopefully he puts them on a good track down the road.

They were 11-1 and in first place, so they actually were actually looking pretty good to get the 1 seed and have a good chance to make the dance from the MAAC this year. But the 0-4 stretch since may indicate otherwise. They also have three teams behind them who are all within a game now, so they could fall all the way to 5th or so. For now, they're still in the mix, in 2nd and a half-game out of 1st.

Fair enough, but the MAAC is a weird place now that Iona isn't dominating, and QU is simply not that kind of program that's going to run wild. Ripe for the taking though... a new program has a big opp to take over now that the "king" is not the same for the first time in umpteen years.

Brutal end for Pecora... Quinnipiac just got upset by St Peter's in the maac semis on a putback at the buzzer

Shame, after such a good year. Would have been a great story for Pecora. Still a good one. But that's March - Quinnipiac is one of 17 top seeds to lose in conference tourneys this year...

And I couldn't even finish this post before Wisconsin's win over Purdue made it 18! Haha!

And Towson and Stony Brook nearly made it 19.

EDIT: make it 19 anyway as Hofstra will not have beaten an NCAA tournament team this year. South Florida likely headed to the NIT after losing a 1/4 semis game to UAB today.

EDIT: 20 with Houston’s blowout loss to Iowa State.

EDIT: 21 with NC State upsetting North Carolina, winning five games in five days, to win the ACC tourney for the first time since the last year it was held at the Capital Centre in Landover, MD 37 years ago. So, we'll have about two-thirds of the top seeds losing conference tourneys this year.

The last remaining 1 see to play, Grand Canyon, trailing early against 3 seed UT-Arlington.

Quinnipiac will play in the CBI.
