CAA Men's Basketball 2021-2022 Expenses by Team

Post by EvanJ »

Somebody found it on Twitter and copied it to https://csnbbs.com/attachment.php?aid=11412 and I am noting that it includes current members, but it says 2021-2022, so the it is expenses by new teams before they joined the CAA.

1. Charleston: 3.71 million (125th)
2. Northeastern: 3.38 million (139th)
3. Hofstra: 3.31 million (144th)
4. Drexel: 2.94 million (160th)
5. Delaware: 2.94 million (161st)
6. Stony Brook: 2.92 million (162nd)
7. Monmouth: 2.79 million (171st)
8. Towson: 2.43 million (193rd)
9. William & Mary: 2.40 million (197th)
10. Elon: 2.38 million (201st)
11. UNCW: 2.30 million (206th)
12. Campbell: 1.95 million (249th) (joining in 2023-2024)
13. North Carolina A&T: 1.43 million (306th)
14. Hampton: 1.15 million (336th)

The HBCUs spent the least. I wonder how much each team spent on travel. The three highest teams are far from the geographic center.

The numbers are skewed as the privates' cost of attendance are much higher than the publics.

The order is:

Public
Private
Private
Private
Public
Public
Private
Public
Public
Private
Public
Private
Public
Private

The two groups are evenly mixed together. Each group has seven schools. One group has its ranks add up to 52, and the other group has its ranks add up to 53.

And yet another oft used excuse bites the dust :D

But I am surprised by that evenly mixed breakdown… interesting.

lol HUSID easy partner! :D

You can't cherry pick the top 4 only to force your point haha, the full picture is literally a 50-50 split per the data.

There are of course $ factors that matter though - the NIL obviously matters big time today, and IMO, will be destructive is not brought under control asap.

But the typical operating expenses of business (which this fully is) that every other business (program) faces is not. HU can figure it out like every other program of similar type, size, stature, etc across the entire landscape. HU isn't some anomaly. You want to play in the D1 space, then welcome to it - put your money behind it. And HU makes PLENTY of money. Not hearing it one bit.

The issue is how its counted, what goes in to each budget...Hofstra under Rabinowitz used to count a full scholarship at full retial which is ridiculous, that skews these numbers significantly.

Husid80 correct you have to compare apples to apples
Another thing is that the public schools get most of their funding for athletics through taxpayer dollars. It’s up to the private universities to raise that money on their own
One of the reasons why football was cut from Hofstra was that when Rabinowitz presented to the cost of football to the board, he included 60 scholarships at full tuition and room and board cost
That added $3 million to the cost of running the football program which he estimated at $4.8 million

Great points. Destroying football was clearly pure agenda. Should do a 30 for 30 on it lol.

And what a move boy. Put HU down to the bottom of the NCAA totem pole with zero athletic options. Genius.

Good thing that med school put HU into the Ivy Lea... oh.

Call me crazy, but I bet real leaders with vision would've been able to achieve both. Ya know, kinda like ALL THE OTHERS THAT DO IT. Including in the CAA, and the ONLY teams the CAA is expanding with and for. But yeah, I'm probably just a kook. :P
