St. Francis ends D1 atlhetics program

Post by cactus »

Decision today to scrap all 19 sports at the end of the spring season.
The announcement cited COVID-19 impact as the main reason.
School will honor all current scholarships thru graduation.

They had an average Men's Basketball attendance of 222, and the Northeast Conference averaged 695. I have ranks for 2021-2022, and they averaged 288, which was the fourth lowest. Conference rival Long Island, Chicago State, and Incarnate Word averaged less. The northeast is the least popular region for NCAA sports, and they join Hartford, who is transitioning down from Division I, as schools to leave Division I. We finished 24-13 (.649) against St. Francis Brooklyn in Men's Basketball. I wonder how many people will continue writing St. Francis (PA) when specifying the state is unnecessary.
