Just some late news on our baseball team they dropped the first game to FGCU(Florida Gulf Coast) yesterday 13-0. They went into the 6th inning down 4-0 and FGC scored 9 runs in the 6th. We could only muster 4 hits and a few walks while we gave up 11 hits and 2 HR's between 3 pitchers. We're playing them right now and losing 7-2 in the 6th inning.

Real TOUGH playing Sun Belt teams this early in the year...they have been playing/practicing outside all year...we'll come around.

It's really tough to judge how good the team is or isn't based on early season Florida games. I played college baseball in the northeast (many years ago). There were years when we went south for our Feb trips and it was the first time we practiced as a team (let alone played) on grass because of snow up north. At the same time, our opponents had at least 15 games/scrimmages under their belts (along with practicing on grass or turf fields all winter long). Typically, by mid march the northern teams have caught up and are more "game ready". That goes for both pitchers and hitters, but especially for pitchers.

This is consoling to hear hopefully that has some validity to our losses in softball as well although playing #12 Washington from the PAC 12 also the reason. So not to be too concerned just yet.
