Hofstra Softball 2/17 Friday

We're playing our first softball of the season in Houston a doubleheader vs Washington and Morgan State. We already lost the first game 10-0 after Julia Apsel didn't get out of the 1st inning giving up a couple of homeruns and 8 runs on 6 hits. Emma Brennan freshmen came in and pitched well giving up 2 runs 1 earned 3 walks and 2k's. We had 2 hits in this game and struck out 12X. Not a good first game against a big team though as they walked off on us.

In the second game going into the bottom of the 7th we're tied 1-1 with Morgan State. We only have 3 hits luckily one of those left the yard off the bat of Giordano. Haley Venturini probably our best pitcher pitched well giving up 1 run on 3 hits 2 walks and 7 K's. Nikki Mullin pitched the top of the 7th giving up no runs a walk and a hit but had 2 K's. We're now hitting bottom 7th. We have a runner on second with 2 out and Anna Butler pinch hitting. Anna grounded out to second. Extra innings.

Mullin dealing in this game already has 4 K's in two innings. We just need to score some runs.

We lose the double header again not hitting much getting 6 hits but no timely hits to win this game. Get really good pitching from Haley and Nikki who gets tagged with the loss after giving up a run in the 10th inning unearned. How ugly is that we give up 6 hits and strikeout 12. Pathetic! At this rate our pitchers will have to throw no hitters to win.

said it before we have no hitting. Giordano only deep threat. All others are a bunch of slap hitters. Can see Giordano leading the conference in intentional walks.

Stu - You follow this program more than I do. This was the premier program at HU for over a decade and one of the premier programs in the NE. How does a program fall so far so fast? (Same question for men's lax, but the decline has been more incremental lol.)

We're picked for third in this conference in just the second year for Clark. We play good defense and have strong pitching. We also seem to be recruiting talented kids all over the country so it's a matter of time I believe before we become the premier team once again in this conference but it will be competitive.

the CAA also did not fair too well. I dont think we won a game today. Still we need to get our hitting up to par

Stu, with all due respect, Larissa Anderson's last year at Hofstra was 2018. We can't keep using her departure as an excuse for the current failings. This is now the 5th year since she left.

This is Adrienne Clarkes second year. I always said to get a true handle on a coach its 5 years. Miller was not the right fit for Hofstra and he put us back a few years.

Some of you if you can should come out and watch these kids. This team is respectable and fun to watch with good pitching and defense. We had a good pickup behind the plate in Becca who had a few hits yesterday and has a gun for an arm. She's a transfer from Mass- Lowell. Also freshman Alanna Morse from Mepham who looks promising. Her sister Brianna also plays on the team. Of course Meghan Giordano is our best hitter and can play s.s. I've saw a lot of games last year.
