Not to get ahead of ourselves, but I thought I would start a thread for discussion about the upcoming playoff schedule and seeds. Games 1-9 on FloHoops.

First Round – Friday, March 3 (all times Eastern)
Game 1: #12 seed vs. #13 seed – 2 p.m.

Second Round – Saturday, March 4
Game 2: #8 seed vs. #9 seed – 12 Noon
Game 3: #5 seed vs. Game 1 winner – 2:30 p.m.
Game 4: #7 seed vs. #10 seed – 6 p.m.
Game 5: #6 seed vs. #11 seed – 8:30 p.m.

Quarterfinals – Sunday, March 5
Game 6: #1 seed vs. Game 2 winner – 12 Noon
Game 7: #4 seed vs. Game 3 winner – 2:30 p.m.
Game 8: #2 seed vs. Game 4 winner – 6 p.m.
Game 9: #3 seed vs. Game 5 winner – 8:30 p.m.

Semifinals – Monday, March 6
Game 10: Game 6 winner vs. Game 7 winner – 6 p.m. (CBSSN)
Game 11: Game 8 winner vs. Game 9 winner – 8:30 p.m. (CBSSN)

Championship – Tuesday, March 7

Joe Lunardi raised us from a 14 to a 13, and raised Charleston from fifth team out to fourth team out.

Would nice if somehow Towson could finish third and we could avoid them in semis if we take care of business Saturday to get top seed.

Towson has to play the COC on the road then finish against UNCW ON THE ROAD. This is a tough schedule to close out the season. They could very well wind up in 3rd since UNCW is not playing very well down the stretch. UNCW has an easier two games since they play S.B. then Towson. If Towson can beat COC then it might all come down to the last game.

They could very well wind up in 3rd since UNCW is not playing very well down the stretch. UNCW has an easier two games since they play S.B. then Towson. If Towson can beat COC then it might all come down to the last game.

With the unbalanced schedule Towson and uncw only play this 1 time. So i believe as long as Towson beats them they'll get the 3 seed on the head to head tiebreaker regardless of what either team does Thurs (we can thank Delawares win yesterday over uncw for making that possible).

Itd be a nice upset - if Towson could beat CofC in Charleston.

However - in another post I mentioned - last week we played 4 games in 8 days (a lot of games in a short time for a typical college schedule) - and I thought some of players were gas'd because of that vs Stony Brook. When Seeded First in the CAA our first game is Sunday (3/5) so we will be rested being our only game prior to the CAA Championship is this Saturday (2/25) vs NE - having us playing 4 games in 18 days (from the game vs SB) to come home with The Crown.

So just looking ahead into a crystal ball we could be playing on Sunday the quarter final game against Delaware. I'm obviously making my own assumptions. Then on Monday I think we could be playing UNCW in the semi-finals. Then on Tuesday in the championship game vs either COC or Towson. I just feel that UNCW will drop to 4th place in the next week and obviously love all those matchups. On Tuesday if all goes as planned the two best teams will be playing each other.

Too bad we dont play a mid-week game on Wed/Thursday this week. As it stands, we are scheduled to go through a 2 week stretch leading up to the CAA tourney playing only one game over two weeks. Since guys are generally healthy and we don't need time off to get healthy, I would rather we play another game to stay sharp. One game in two weeks followed by 3 games in 3 days?????

It is what it is......but not ideal IMO.

HU just completed a busy schedule of 5 games in 11 days. I think the team could probably use a break. Playing Saturday-Monday and then Thursday-Saturday, with travel, cannot be easy. Tired legs mean missed shots. Rest up a few days, get in a few good practices, and be ready for NU and then onto DC. The latest Joe Lunardi Bracketology (2-17-23) has HU increased to a #13 seed versus UConn in Albany.

Don’t jinx it. winning CAA will be tall order so one step at a time, although being top seed would help because of extra rest.

HofstraPride1, I agree. Take care of NU on Saturday afternoon, secure the #1 seed, then get ready for Sunday afternoon in DC. Coach Speedy has always issued the Coach Speak of keeping focus and the next game being the most important.

I took off March 7th for the CAA Final, and the 16th/17th for the first round. I hope I'm doing a lot of traveling those days.

I think the CAA should make all teams play every other team before the last game. Thursday is meaningless for UNCW and Towson. They play Saturday night, so we will not know our most likely Semifinal opponent until after that.

Maybe Delaware will go on a run like they did last year lol but in reality this years team is not nearly as good as the team they had last year.
