This Instagram post basically confirms it it is a season ending injury like we feared. Not a doctor but def appeared to be ACL tear. Assuming that is case she will be able to use this as a redshirt year now so will have four years of eligibility remaining.

So we beat up on an inferior opponent Wagner 15-2. They came in with only one win. Taylor Mennella playing a game without her sister had 3 goals 4A, Walser had 4 goals and an assist Rachel Graff also had a hat trick. The freshman from Massapequa was in goal Luchianna Cardello don't know if she played the entire game or just replaced Jess Smith a fixture in goal. A win is a win so we get off the snide for now.
Katie Kelly back on attack and had a decent game with two goals in an assist
Also, our freshman goalie is only 5 foot one
That’s really short for a goalie
Can see some of the better teams shooting high on her
We lose a very close game to #20 USC 9-8. For those who watch Lacrosse is this a game we can build some momentum from?? Lord knows we need to go on a run.

Jess had a terrible game against Fairfield was pulled then. She has mostly been on bench since then other than 16:44 in the loss to Marist. Shannon has decided to go with the freshman and while very short at only 5-1, she has shown incredible reaction skills early onZ as far as today being something team can build on going into CAA play, absolutely as it is a new season now. Unfortunately winning CAA is tall order of course with Stony Brook in the league, but one game at a time. They have faced a ton of adversity after losing best player for season and am impressed how they are handling so far.
With Nikki Manella out it’s all hands on deck in someways. It could be a blessing because now more than one person hast to step up for us to be successful. We need to have four or five scorers each game
So from what I gather maybe the freshman getting playing time could be a blessing in disguise at least so far anyway. She hasn't been in awe getting thrown into the cage. So is that a consensus that the freshman Manella was the best player (scorer?). We do seem to have quite a few kids that can put it in the net. Walser seems to be playing well.

No question Nikki was the best scorer and player on team before injury as she already had 24 goals in six games at time of injury. She has amazing speed and hope she doesn’t lose too much explosiveness when she gets back on field. Walser def stepping up more now in her absence indeed. She was huge part of team that made ncaas in 2021 as a freshman when Alyssa Parrella was drawing most of the attention and scored winning goal in a crucial late season win against Towson to secure the at large bid.

Tough loss in tough weather conditions in a game where we could just never get over the hump. If Niki hadn’t gone down I think solid chance we are 2-0 in CAA now instead of 0-2.
