What's the media buy?
There's no media buy I know of, but hopefully Hofstra will pay to get that shown on regional sports networks. Would you have rather me posted that in a new topic?

Great story in Newsday today about Hofstra's football legacies coaching in the Super Bowl. This program is still paying dividends more than seven years after its assassination.

Sad and pathetic.

Can't force the students to attend unfortunately.

It really is, although they at least made a great showing for the Drexel comeback - was a great active and loud crowd and student section!

Don't care what the reason is, people HAVE to be incentivized to take action, that's life. Whatever it takes, get 'em there!

I'm glad they did the article though, keep highlighting it and hopefully the increased attention will fuel some change on the part of the students.

Get all Sports Teams to attend each other's games (if there aren't any conflicts).
Give incentives to Frats and Sororities to attend.
Speak with Student Organizations to get involved.
Hire an outside Marketing Firm that specializes in sporting events.

The NCAA issued a cash payout to D-1 schools, Hofstra is receiving over $450,000. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/co ... /99582450/

No, the NCAA is restricting the use of the money. The article says it "will be restricted to uses that directly benefit athlete academic and welfare initiatives".

So then we will reduce the school contribution to the budget. Where there is a will there's a way.

There is no way the NCAA can track that money once it is deposited . The money will funnel its way to the general fund. Hofstra does not have to show that its athletic budget is increased. Like HUSID80 said they reduce the budget then add it on so it looks like the 450K is going to athletics.

Schools will face restrictions on how they can use the money, which is coming from the liquidation of a type of endowment that had grown to more $360 million. The money is to be put toward “the direct benefit of the student-athlete and their academic success, life skills, career success, health and safety and student-athlete focused diversity and inclusion initiatives,” according the Q&A document. The money cannot be used for items such as coaches’ salaries, strength equipment, and stadium or arena improvements aimed at fans.

Each school will have to provide the NCAA office with answers to a 48-item spending plan questionnaire within three months of receiving the money, and the plan will have to be approved by NCAA staff before any of the money can be spent. Schools will be subject to random audits of their use of the money, and the spending plan questionnaire advises schools that supporting “documents should be retained for a 10 year period … which may exceed your institution’s current document retention policy.”

The last two paragraphs of the article. I highly doubt Hofstra is going to falsify records to spend this on general purposes instead of what the ncaa requires. In the grand scheme of hofstra's budget this is a drop in the bucket.

Nobody is saying they will falsify records. All they need to do is reduce their funding of athletic programs and replace those funds with the NCAA funding, very simple.

They can reduce their 2018 budget. Then submit it to the NCAA and add the 450k later

Yeah, there's already a life skills coach type person, a study center, tutors, all of that. All they have to show is that they spent the money on that, which they already do.

Check out where this WNBA commercial was filmed. Looks like they didn't even attempt to cover up the logos, which is awesome publicity for us. https://twitter.com/WNBA/status/854769922689421312

Obviously recognized the arena but anyone not familiar with it would not recognize it. Did not see any Hofstra signs.
