1. NYS is issuing an additional 3 casino licenses; this is 100% happening. There is thought to maybe stagger them but over the next few years they will be issued.
2. All 3 licenses will be issued in the downstate area (essentially NYC, Nassau, Suffolk or Westchester). All 3 will be in these counties.
3. NYS has stated that a requirement of receiving a license is support from the local government and community. So definitely reach out to the Nassau County executive office as if they aren't on board with this then it won't happen.
4. While yes some big players are listed in support of this. The other casino projects have much bigger supports. You are talking small potatoes in Rechler, NCC, etc compared to the businesses and people backing the other casinos. For example Caesars in times square has Caesars (the largest casino company in the US) Sl Green, Jay z and a group of Broadway theatres & restaurants all supporting the bid.

This casino won't happen. Definitely keep reaching out to the local government and when the actual proposals are submitted to the committee from the Casino division that is awarding the licenses. But the other bids will really need to be terrible for this one to even be considered.
I hope you are right Matthew! No doubt other bids have some major backing and conventional wisdom says they would probably want at least one in Manhattan, but I do worry about Rabinowitz role on the commission given his ties to Rechler.

Moving up to the top since this online petition very close to reaching initial goal of 500 and then it will get promoted more. The more opposition to this the better. https://www.change.org/p/say-no-to-the-casino

Is great to see Village of Garden City show opposition to the casino proposal last night. Hopefully other villages and community groups will follow suit.

Is great to see Hofstra take out a full page ad in today’s Sunday Newsday print edition to write an open letter against the casino endorsed by board of trustees

I wish I could sign the petition but living out of state nullifies it.

Is great to see Hofstra continuing its aggressive fight against the casino plan. Hopefully if nothing else this latest move slows down process and perhaps gives other competitors from city an edge. https://abc7ny.com/hofstra-lawsuit-casi ... /13156442/

You are exactly right Cactus. They are buying off the opposition. This is Susan Poser's first big battle and I hope she is up to it. I hope she realizes how ruthless well-heeled people can be when they want something. Let's see if she can enlist the support of her predecessor who was an outspoken opponent of similar a plan when he was President. I'm quite confident that Stu will follow the money/power trail and lend no support. The snide remark from Nassau County is disgusting and classless.

Yes but he is only vote of many in state who will be deciding this.

Somebody needs to send the NYS Gaming Association all of Stu's well-publicized comments from yesteryear condemning a similar project.

Just because he is on this commission doesn’t mean he will ultimately push the coliseum proposal as state pick. He is very close with Rechler though so that is my worry. Like I said before though he is only one vote in process at end of day.

Blakeman tried to make it out like this was done deal after striking lease transfer agreement but reality is this gives them a first down but they need a touchdown with a lot of field left to drive on. There are a number of steps left and state will play a role at end of day.
