Hate to bring this game up on a day like today with the GREAT win at Charleston, but can't help but think that when you don't ever take your foot off the gas and you always play up to your capabilities, it can really help you in the long run.
They guarded (like they have in many CAA games this year) and led this game 64-51 with 10 minutes left and then gave up THIRTY points in those final 10 minutes to lose, 81-79.
If not for those final 10 minutes of that game, they'd be the current leader for the 1 seed (tied with Charleston, but with the tiebreaker in their favor) instead of the current 3 seed (tied with Towson but Towson currently having that tiebreaker). As we saw with Delaware winning as the 5 seed last year, seeds may not mean that much - just play your best basketball in DC, but it certainly helps to get the highest seed you can get and you can't afford to give games away when you're competing with the likes of Charleston, Towson, UNCW.
Hopefully a lesson learned the rest of the way that the focus ALWAYS has to be there because when it is, this team is very capable, as we saw today in Charleston. I think that lesson HAS been learned because although they got blown out at Towson, they just shot badly and did have a great start (ready to play early, up 13-3), and in the other games, they won them all by 13-24 or won at CofC.
