Would be a HUGE get. COVID making things tougher for all, talented kids weighing the options, and it's more slanted toward just getting the $ and not messing with the risk of whether a season happens, or what the NCAA will do, etc.

Great to see HU's name on the list though - HU in the mix for high end true P5/4 star talent is a step in the right direction to leveling this program up a notch - keep getting the HU hat on the table!

Interesting PF/C (6'-9", 235 lbs) that is graduating this year for Kellenberg HS which is only a few miles from HU. A local option??? Watching the video doesn't make me think he could be IK replacement, but he does have some decent mobility for a big. He certainly shows a nice shooting touch (even from downtown). Maybe a backup option.

Offered by Drexel, Albany, Niagara, and others.

A few days ago in another post, I noted that we had just offered this kid and that this was his first D1 offer. Looks like the staff sees potential and talent that others may have missed. I also read somewhere that the kid grew 2-3 inches in the last year.

Agree cactus, kid has smooth stroke with great range. I guess the bottom line is that there is always a spot on a roster for a guy who can shoot 3s lights out. We shall see.

Great scoop Dooku!! Thanks!

LOVE this one as a true sleeper. Kid was barely 5'10" a couple of yrs ago, now at a perfect for the position 6'5 - screams Northeastern to me, and that's why I like him.

SMART ball player, can handle the rock well, has super court vision and can push the ball himself or with crisp passing, excellent footwork on both ends of the floor, quick on the shot, and can routinely hit from NBA range literally anywhere on the court. He's not the prototype HU 'athlete', not gonna jump out of the gym, but this kid can light up the scoreboard, and he's only going to get better as he develops into his new size.

HU got this one by being the only one showing consistent love, especially through 2 injuries which slowed his publicity. Other mids tried to jump in, including NU (which is enough of an endorsement), but HU's relationship wins.

If he can stay healthy, this young man can do damage on the scoreboard. This is the kind of kid Cohen would use as HU kryptonite to counter our shooting, gonna be very nice to have his firepower in the JM system.

Can dribble well enough to drive and/or create space for his own shot, but superior off the catch and shoot. Now just need an elite PG to get him the ball!

Shawndarius Cowart had 6.5 assists as a sophomore and is a JUCO. If he spends two seasons here, maybe he'll lead us in assists by a lot like Green did. If he plays well and Burgess is an adequate sub, we could be set at PG for 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. Replacing Coburn and Ray in 2021-2022 will take work, and it will be harder if we need a PG also.

Lester was expected to be better than Jenkins, JWF hardly played as a freshman, and Buie and Ray (Three Man Weave's CAA POY) also were subs before starting. We've had elite seasons by players who weren't expected to be great after high school and/or after their freshman season. Pemberton originally planned to go to W&M, which focuses on academics. Did any team in a better conference than the CAA recruit him? Are we like the Tampa Bay Rays winning with a very low payroll?

Barrouk will barely be around Cowart, I'm referencing the future PG after him, which he will play with directly.

HU needs to take a stud PG in this class with him.

Nice article. Sounds something like the story with Kvonn Cramer. Great to see these young men get a second change or helpful break when unfortunate things happen (like injuries) over which they had no control. Its a good story.

Great article, thanks.

Interesting Hofstra twisted connection - Griffins father "Chuck Barrouk, who’s 6-foot-4, had played...with the Washington Generals, touring around the world with the Harlem Globetrotters" in the 1980's "Luke Murphy, who played basketball at Hofstra University also played professionally for the Washington Generals against the Harlem Globetrotters.

I am guessing they could have been team mates.

Luke was a nice player for HU and a good guy>

Looks like a really good get. Watch him doing drills only a few months ago. What a shooting machine and he can get up over the rim as well. https://youtu.be/X8--gfXKT8w
