Baseball uniforms

Post by HofstraHockey »

So all the teams are now in Nike uniforms, including baseball, which came out with these, which honestly not only look terrible, but aren't Hofstra colors. Not really sure what they are going for here, but with the royal accessories (belts, catchers gear, helmets) it's a bit of a mess. https://twitter.com/HofstraBaseball/sta ... 94753?s=19

See, this is EXACTLY what I feared in another thread a while back about Hofstra signing with Nike, which often does whatever it likes, without any consideration for (especially) team colors, logos, wordmarking, or other things associated with a team's tradition. PLEASE don't go this route for basketball. Black is great if you're Iowa or Providence, but please no black men's hoops uniforms. No gray ones either. Just blue, white and yellow please! (and no, it's not gold, though we call it that - it's yellow... gold is what the New Orleans Saints or San Francisco 49ers have).

Softball is in a slate gray
Awful. Anyone should instantly be able to identify a team when they see a team's uniform. When I see Hofstra play, I want to see blue, white, yellow. I don't want to see a slate gray that any team could wear. The trend to make every team in every sport look generic with their alternate uniforms is the worst contribution Nike and other uniform makers have made to sports. Well, that and Zion's sneaker blowing up in a game.

The new uni's certainly haven't done anything for the quality of either team. The downfall of the softball program is really a shame.

I mean baseball and softball wear gray uniforms anyway- that's the nature of the sport. But navy, not so much.

Oh, I didn't know they did that in softball like they do in MLB and college baseball. But, if they have to do that, wear the traditional light grays for the road. Those slate grays are terrible. Don't like the Diamondbacks' dark grays either.

Should be yellow or white.

JMU has great colors (the purple and gold), yet they wore black at The Mack on Saturday. Damn Nike.
