2020 CAA Tourney Trip

Post by Hofstra »

After todays game, I figured no better time to put this one up with a month to go.

I didnt make it to a single tournament in Charleston, but prior to that, went to all of them since the Stokes days. Needless to say, I am amped to head back for it.

Anyone making the trek down? Anyone book it already?

Been a loooooog time for me since having kids, and sometimes having a busy business travel schedule, but I am really contemplating how to make DC happen... will dig in further this week on possibility / logistics

I e-mailed the CAA's Bill Potter and got a response that "individual session tickets are tentatively scheduled to go on sale on Thursday, Feb. 13."

I plan on going and seeing a couple of other things in D.C. I don't travel much. It will be my second CAA Tournament after 2016 in Baltimore.

Has anyone booked a hotel yet and if so which one. Doesn't look like there's much near the arena.

I will be at the Hilton Washington DC National Mall. Someone went to D.C. and was disappointed that "mall" meant an open area rather than stores. The Entertainment and Sports Arena (ESA) is across a bridge from central D.C. If you want to be near the ESA and don't care about anything else, you should stay south of the ESA. There's the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD; Westin Washington National Harbor in Fort Washington, MD; Hampton Inn & Suites National Harbor/Alexandria Area in Oxon Hill; Harborside Hotel in Oxon Hill; Comfort Inn in Oxon Hill; Red Roof PLUS+ Washington, DC - Oxon Hill in Oxon Hill; Residence Inn by Marriott National Harbor Washington, DC Area in Fort Washington; Club Wyndham National Harbor in Fort Washington; and Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor. If you only look for hotels in D.C., you might not find those. There are a lot of K-12 schools near the ESA.

Apparently the surrounding area of the arena is pretty sketchy. Not so good area that still hasn’t been built up since the arena has been built.

I liked the AE tournament down at Delaware. Even though the Hens had an edge playing on their home court, it was easy to get to and not too far from LI.

Haven't booked anything yet, still waiting. Not sure if it is going to be an uber everywhere type of weekend. I am unsure if the arena has parking. I know National Harbor is awesome, just not sure its worth it being so far out from the arena.

Besides Ev, anyone book? I am ecstatic about this trip.
