Agree. Plus, they also played Saturday, so Hofstra is better rested. This is a take-care-of-business game. No excuses. Get it done by double digits and then at least be competitive in Charleston, and then it's a good start to CAA play with the schedule in HU's favor the rest of the way. A win in Charleston would then be gravy and a great start to CAA play.

HU -9 (as you said) with a 143.5 O/U, so an expected 71-62 Hofstra win. I could see UNCW around that 62 mark but I think HU will score at least 5-10 more than that 71 and make this fairly easy. The far more experienced and seasoned Buie should have another big game against the freshman Phillips, to lead the way.

Hopefully no TRAP game here and WE don't run into a perfect storm. They have been a thorn in our side over the years especially when Keatts was coaching them. We need to focus on taking care of business here and not be looking ahead to the COC game. I believe we do just that. Maybe we get a good game from Coburn long overdue.

Always worry about playing them at Trask...think we've lost our last four there...hope we jump on them early and take away any boost they've gotten from the coaching change.

Yes, often a problem with them, be it at Trask or in the CAA tourney, sometimes even at home over the years. And, some reason to be wary that the coaching change could help UNCW play over their heads a bit. But they also had some good players in the past, even in down years (like when they beat HU at home with Cacok last year). This is a different UNCW team this year, though. They're very young and the talent isn't there (at least not yet). They're the CAA's only winless team in league play (0-6) and 2-14 against D-I opponents this year for a reason. This would be a bad loss. No excuses. Even on the road, this should be a relatively easy take-care-of-business kind of win, especially with a couple extra days of rest. While HU isn't good enough to take anyone (especially in conference) for granted, this shouldn't be another San Jose State kind of game, but rather, like what we saw at Cal State-Fullerton. Approach it seriously, get it done and prep quickly for a big one at Charleston.

The CAA says W&M leads with 7 away wins, and we're in an eight-way tie for second with 6. W&M is a 1.5 underdog at Delaware, so if the favorites win we will tie them for the most away wins. The CAA's information is from before yesterday, so other teams could have reach 6 yesterday. None of the other teams who had 6 before yesterday played away yesterday or play away today, and I think it's extremely unlikely that any team won away last night to make 6 and plays away tonight.

UNCW is starting Brian Tolefree (guard, 5.7, 1.3, 1.3), Shykeim Phillips (guard, 8.7, 2.6, 2.2), Mike Okauru (guard, 8.0, 5.3, 2.8), Jaylen Sims (guard, 14.3, 5.3, 1.2), and Martin Linssen (forward, 10.2, 4.5, 0.4). Those are points, rebounds, and assists. Linssen and Imajae Dodd haven't attempted any threes. Dodd blocks 0.9 shots, which is great while averaging only 15.4 minutes.

Buie got fouled on the first possession hurt his elbow according to the announcers, shot a free throw very short, made the second free throw, left a little later, got his arm taped while Burgess played, came back in, and made a 3.

Edit: Pemberton made a 3 to go up 14-6 and made UNCW call timeout with 14:18 left. After Buie's free throw, UNCW took a 4-1 lead.

Kante's playing. Schutte played 1:23. UNCW is up 20-19, but they just committed a shooting foul. There have been three times when the fans wanted an offensive foul or travel against Hofstra and UNCW was called for a shooting foul.

Edit: We went in a drought and went down 30-23. Ray made a 3 to go down to 30-26. UNCW will shoot 2 free throws with 1:10 left. From 5:29 left to 1:10 there were no stoppages, so the under 4 media timeout is with 1:10 left.

Edit: Sims missed 2 free throws, Buie scored 2, UNCW missed, and they got the offensive rebound and scored to go up 32-28 with 13.9 seconds left. After the offensive rebound, they could have held for the final shot. Pemberton shot a 3 that rimmed out. We trail 32-28. UNCW has 10 points off turnovers and 8 second chance points, while we don't have any of either. We shot .375, but it's not as bad as it sounds because 15 of our 24 attempts were threes and we made a third of the threes. Buie has 8, Pemberton has 7, Ray has 6, Coburn has 3, Kante has 2, and Silverio has 2. Silverio missed only only field goal attempt by our bench and made 2 free throws. I'm surprised Trueheart hasn't played. UNCW made only 1 of 8 threes, but they have 2 more rebounds and 11 more field goal attempts. We shot free throws 5-7 and they shot 3-6. Imajae Dodd leads all players with 9 points and 5 rebounds, and he didn't start. He played 10 minutes because Marten Linssen committed 2 fouls in 6 minutes. Jaylen Sims and Linssen are UNCW's double-digit scorers, and they have 2 each. Buie has 1 assist and 3 of our 10 turnovers. Mike Okauru has 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals. If he can do that in the second half to finish with 12, 6, 4, and 8, it will be combination done once so far this season and 15 times from 2010-2011 to the present. None of those times were by or against CAA teams.

I missed plenty of first half action but hear the UNCW announcers happy about 8 2nd chance points and their offensive rebounds. Buie got hurt but went back in.
