Is Anybody Going to Hofstra Votes Events?

Post by EvanJ »

I'm going to go on Thursday morning to the event described at https://events.hofstra.edu/index.php?eID=28478 because one of the panelists is Professor Eisenberg, who I enjoyed two classes with. Rather than making survey courses, which means you go through a textbook with a limited amount of detail on each topic, students read unique books about specific events. Another unique thing was that she made students sit in a circle (probably a rectangle) and have discussion rather than sit in rows and columns. I was happy that Hofstra gave me elective credit for AP United States History and Government rather than credit for Hofstra courses because it allowed me to take introductory history at Hofstra.

Hofstra is hosting some amazing events and am proud they do so much to create awareness about the important issues surrounding the midterm elections. I also had Professor Eisenberg and loved how interactive her classes with great discussion.

When did you have Professor Eisenberg? I took History 13 in Fall 2004 and History 14C in Spring 2006. I had a perfect semester in Spring 2006 at the same time as Men's Basketball was elite. Did you read these books?

I had her in fall 1999, fall 2000 and fall 2002 for three Vietnam classes. I did not have those books in class, but the rock and roll one in particular looks interesting and must have been cool to discuss.

I got to hear Professor Eisenberg, Former governor of Vermont Howard Dean III, and Republican strategist Edward Rollins. I took notes that I will type here later. The moderator, who only spoke at the beginning, was Professor Paul Fritz. During Spring 2006, I registered to take him in Fall 2006, but I changed my mind during the summer. I wanted to go back at night to hear about gerrymandering, but there was a flash flood warning.
