Men's Lacrosse 2018
Re: Men's Lacrosse 2018
We lose to a very strong Lehigh team ranked 12th nationally. We jump out to a 3-0 lead and the forget what drove our success...strong face off game, good defense.
In fairness we had to play without our two top senior defenders.
Too bad this game wasn't cancelled due to the impending blizzard.

St John's scores with 3 seconds left in the game to take their first lead and to win. Can always count of Hofstra to collapse in the 4th quarter, outscored 3-0. After this and the disappointing performance against Lehigh, we can probably say goodbye to being ranked. Came into this week being the best defensive team in the country, I assume that won't be the case anymore.

Another 4th quarter collapse by our men’s lacrosse team
Re: Men's Lacrosse 2018
Was at the game and from my view that contested SJU goal in late 3d period never crossed the line. Did ESPN 3 show any replays of it?
Re: Men's Lacrosse 2018
It was a St John's production so they didn't dwell on it.Mikey77 wrote:Was at the game and from my view that contested SJU goal in late 3d period never crossed the line. Did ESPN 3 show any replays of it?
Concannon certainly thought he had the stop.
Re: Men's Lacrosse 2018
So much for journalistic integrity. It never crossed the goal line and I had a clearer view from the raised parking garage than the official who called it.
Re: Men's Lacrosse 2018
Oh well, it shouldn't have come down to that.

Impressive 9-3 win against Towson today to start CAA play. Towson was without their leading scorer, but to hold them to only three goals with one of them being on transition and another with a man down is quite impressive to say the least. Would be great if we could somehow land top seed and host CAAs.
Re: Men's Lacrosse 2018
We really looked strong in the second half. Looked like just about all of our guys were back...little disappointing on the face offs though.
Re: Men's Lacrosse 2018
Five Towson starters sat out most or all of the game due to a "violation of team rules," according to the TU thread on Laxpower. Tough way to start conference play.

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2018
A brutal home loss to Fairfield.
First off, only score 4 goals?
Second, have a lead going into the fourth quarter?
Third, win 10 of 13 faceoffs, and STILL lose??
But hey, they beat UNC! Who has lost five straight, by the way, and is nowhere near a ranking anymore.

We flat out stunk. Blew 2 goal lead in fourth and then showed nothing on offense...Fairfield lost to Stony Brook for gosh sakes!

Kyle Gallagher was the man of the match, winning 13 of 20 draws, including seven in the first half that prevented UNC from scoring until the third quarter.
BUMP. Just another Hofstra Lax season. At least this year we stunk most of the season, not just the end. Very upsetting.

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2018
What is frustrating is that the CAA is way down this year. Only 1 team has an overall winning record. If we were just consistantly good not great we would be where UMass is at 7-4 and 2-0 in conference. BTW- the women i
just cant figure out. I thought they were improved but they just lost their CAA to a bad Elon team. Elon was 1-8 coming in the the contest and we lost to them 12-8.

Elon is much record than their record since they played grueling schedule. Six of those losses were to Duke, Virginia, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Stanford.stuball888 wrote:What is frustrating is that the CAA is way down this year.
