I saw there was a new WB Mason Coaches report posted today, I haven't gotten a chance to listen since I'm at work, but I wonder if that discusses the cancellation at all.
Based on how bad the team played again Charleston, I would personally want the team to play a live game against a D1 opponent, you can only do so much when practicing against your own teammates. The games would be meaningless regardless of the result, based on RPI we have the win the CAA tournament to make the NCAA tournament. The team has missed out on a good number of games due to weather, so they need to play whatever they can at his point, if not just to practice playing different opponents.

To Stuball888, Where was this information published about the HU cancellation? I have checked the HU site, the LU site, and the LU message board, none of these has listed a reason for the cancellation.

Based on past cancellations 95pwrcent of the time it is the travel team that cancels. JMU cancelled their trip to long wood. If you look st the history of softball cancellations the only time the home team cancel is due to field conditions or scheduling conflicts. None are going on at lehigh.

To Stuball888, I will take your better softball knowledge, but as the line from "Dumb and Dumber" goes: "There's still a chance" it was LU or mutual.

Struggling mightily against last place Drexel right now, Cornell just loaded the bases with 1 out left in the bottom of the 7th. Not good.

Update, we just lost on a walk-off 3 rbi double and now we are in a position where we have to win out to make the CAA tournament. One player brought in all 5 runs for Drexel today, and of course it was the 1 that Larissa Anderson talked about in the Coaches Report, saying we can't let 1 player beat us Awful.

Great response in games 2 and 3, both were mercy rule wins. 10-0 in game 2 yesterday, and 10-2 in game 3 today. Those wins plus being helped by other teams losing makes us the number 2 seed in the conference tournament starting Wednesday.

Good to hear. This is a proud program with great tradition. Hopefully we can make some noise in the tournament.

They'll need someone to beat JMU once along the way. I think they can beat them, but doing it twice will be difficult.

Pitchingof the two freshmen have been inconsistent. Control problems for both Cornell and Irons Neither are in the class of Megan Good Also the hitting has been spotty especially against the better pitchers in the league They scored 3 runs in3 games against CofC. That will not get it done

Is it only people that are somehow affiliated with JMU that are allowed to vote for post season awards? Sure seems like it... #2 seed with 0 players on the first team is BS. When Hofstra was dominant for the past 2 decades, they never took up as many top awards as JMU gets.

Already down 4-1 after 3 innings against Charleston. I don't know what it is about Charleston that we struggle so much, this is the 4th game against them this season and we still can't figure them out. We've left 5 on base so far, so the offense is there, just can't capitalize on anything, and can't keep the Cougars off the bases. Very frustrating.

Offense isn't there. We are 2-10 with runners on base and 0-7 with runners in scoring position. We scored 3 runs in three games against them. That will not get it done

2 more just left on base, and we had 2 on with only 1 out. Last 2 batters of the inning got out in the first pitch. That lack of patience would by why we have the worst batting average in the conference. Hopefully next season we can hire a capable hitting coach.

And then we promptly walk the first two batters in the top of the 5th. Hard to win when you're not producing anywhere on the field, pitching needs to give us a chance to win as does batting, and neither of them are. The fielding error doesn't help either. I expect a lot more in all aspects of the game from every Hofstra team, no excuse to ever be this bad.

Both teams left a village on base I think 27 total between the two teams. Our best player freshman Hallem driove in the winning run

C of C left 15 on base and Hofstra left 12 on base. C of C could have taken the lead in the top of the tenth on an out, but they left the bases loaded without scoring.

Things are a little different in extra innings in softball. Tournament rules are in extra innings the teams start with a runner on second with no outs. This makes it easier for a team to score so they don't have 20 inning games. These tournaments can't afford to have games last over 4 hours. That is why strikeout pitchers are at a premium in extra innings

I'm not sure if you are joking or not Stu?? Starting an inning with a runner on base  I watched the last inning today and neither team had anyone on with no one out.
